Canadian Tire

The employee who served me was not knowledgable about the line of products they had available. They could not explain to me the differences between a chain and belt garage door opener (besides the price) and there was none on display for me to visualize. Another store that I visited before my trip here had one on display so customers could hear how much noise the opener would produce.

They had all that I needed for indoor and outdoor gardening. Great looking store, fantastic friendly service and a great selection of things you really need to get a good start on the season. I recommend this store to anyone that is into gardening.

We had two exceptional experiences with this store. Canadian Tire will sometimes advertise an item at a terrific price but when you actually have the stores do a physical stock check the item is is often unavailable. After calling 15 stores we were told that the item we wanted was in stock at Albion and drove across the city to get it. When we got there they said it wasn't in stock after all. (This was the fifth store where this had happened)Unlike all of the other stores though, this store turned the premises upside down looking for the item, and finally they not only located one, they actually discounted it. All the way through they were helpful and very solicitious. My second experience was with the garden centre. I'd purchased a set and the glass table had shattered. I was looking for a replacement but the item was discontinued. The garden centre manager told me to wait a minute, she disappeared for about a half hour found a floor model. We were thrilled and thanked her profusely but that's not all because the table was a floor model she gave it a great discount and a wonderful fellow spent ages taking it apart with my husband. Even though this store is nowhere near where I live I will only frequent this Canadian Tire.

I went to purchase a power drill from this store and the associates there was really helpful. He was able to explain to me the difference between the drills I had in mind. At the end it really narrowed down my choices and I purchased the item.

Purchasing a new electric fireplace for my renovated 30-year old home was a piece of cake. I didn't know about a thing about electric fireplaces before going to Canadian Tire. Their staff was helpful, and even provided tips and ideas on how to install it. They are great! I'm very impressed with the product.

I went to Canadian Tire to purchase a door lock for my room. I wasn't so sure where it was located and a friendly worker was able to quickly locate the isle. The price was very decent and the quality is top notch.

My overall experience with the store is that the staff is always busy and it is harder than most stores, to locate someone who can give help or advice when you need it. However there are generally some better experienced, usually older, associates who have a lot of expertise in their area(s) to give you the advice you need, and who do not treat you as just someone he or she needs to deal with.
I recently got some help from one such associate when I was looking for a solution for countertop protection. He had the patience to give me all the options and their pros and cons. The important thing is find the appropriate person in the store to answer your questions.

I really only visit Canadian Tire to purchase tools if I can't find them elsewhere. I went looking for a cordless drill and was quite disappointed by the selection. Right when I walked into the store, it's confusing. After finding the section, I perused for a few minutes and really wanted to ask someone who worked there what they would suggest. I searched for someone to no avail. Generally their store brand, Mastercraft, is average quality and price and I find the brand doesn't last very long at all. Overall, I'd say visit this location in a pinch, but search elsewhere for quality and service.

I have shopped at Canadian Tire for years -they have amazing selection and competitive prices... I have always been very happy to shop there. In the past few months (I think since Christmas), however, they have obviously been trying to change their return/exchange policy, and I have had 2 negative experiences around this in the past 3 months. The first was trying to return a Christmas gift (I had the receipt) - the person behind the counter was very rude to me and actually made it somewhat difficult to return (said I would have to exchange instead of return). I figured it was just a busy time of year, so everyone was probably a little edgy. Last week, however, I tried to return something else that I had bought there but that I had changed my mind about. For some reason, I felt like a criminal trying to return it there. I had the receipt and everything, and the packaging had not been tampered with or anything, but they made a big production of opening it up, checking all the pieces and parts, making sure that no 'seals' were broken on the individual packages inside - and basically told me that they suspected that I had used the product and was now trying to return it (which was untrue). I'm telling you, I'm going to have to think long and hard about buying something at Canadian Tire that I'm not SURE that I want to own (including gifts) - they're making it harder and harder to return things!
