Thermocouple replacement - Expensive!
PROS:
- I found their service to be quick and friendly.
CONS:
- Very expensive, it cost me about $300.00 for them to replace a $10.00 part.
- they will put a big 8X10 sticker on your furnace promoting their company. It does not come off easily, I could not get it off.
- they will attempt to sell you a new heating and cooling system.
-They will phone you after the service to sell you more services.
...7/11/2012 update ....in reply to Jason's comment. No other HVAC companies charge me an emergency truck fee to come out the same day. I do expect to pay for a service call. I'm not confused about the service your company provided or the fees charged or industry practices, no lesson required. The day i called your company was a very busy day for me and i didn't have the chance to shop around or replace the part myself. I told the dispatcher that the thermocouple needed replacing. I've since had the opportunity to find another HVAC service provider and I'm very pleased with their service and fees....no stickers, no BS and no lessons.

Hi Peter, Thank you very much for the review and letting us know that we were fast and friendly, we work really hard to make sure the Technicians that we send into our customers home are extremely professional and prompt.
We are very sorry that you feel the way you do about the cost of the service call but our records show that we did not charge 300.00 for the part, in your calculation you had included the emergency truck charge fee into that total which is a standard in the industry to charge. The 98.00 truck charge pays for the costs to get the tech to you home including fuel, labour, insurances etc… and to get back, it’s no different than let’s say a moving company charging 1 hour to get to and from your home over and above the hours it takes to do the actual move.
We are not sure where you received your pricing comparison from but I can assure you that we paid much more than 10.00 for the part, we use only factory authorized parts that cost more but last longer and are better quality, plus the charge also included for our tech to completely inspect the furnace after the new part was put in to make sure you wouldn’t have any more problems down the road.
You did have a very old furnace so we were not trying to sell you a new furnace, we are just not a company that thinks its sensible to keep fixing old equipment that keeps breaking down without at least letting you know that there are some options available to you that can save you money and aggravation… we don’t know why you look at that as a bad thing and apologize if that came across that way.
