Above and Beyond

Two Fenex technicians installed my new patio door last Tuesday (September 17) and in addition to doing incredible work during the installation, they went above and beyond as they repaired the entire underside panel below the patio frame, including installing two vents (one cold intake for furnace and one for the dryer exhausted) which had water damage. They didn't have to do this, but they did and charged nothing extra. I would recommend this company to anyone. In fact. I have a neighbour who is now interested in contacting Fenex for her patio door.

Awful Job on Trim, and who Knows What Else

I hired Fenex to replace all the windows and the front door in my home. At first the sales team was polite, respectful and helpful. They had a beautiful showroom which was impressive compared to some other companies. But it was all smoke and mirrors. After waiting for 9 months to have my windows installed (thanks to covid delays) I was extremely disappointed with the window trim and finishing.

The cuts were messy and lined up poorly and the patching and caulking was so incredibly sloppy it looked like it was done by a toddler. I had to make several requests to have it fixed properly, no less than 5 return visits and failed attempts to address the issue, each time I was told things like "thats just how it is" and "it looks fine to me", "you just need to sand first and then paint over it", "hire a painter to fix it" and then their senior service guy saying wow, "I don't know why they did such a poor job, must have been having a bad day" and "I did the best I could *shrug*". Also, the kitchen window wasn't installed well so there are weird gaps in the corners due to things not being installed straight or level. They tried to fill the gaps with a clumpy mess of caulking.

Finally the Owner, came out with the installation guy, Serge While walking through the issues Serge denied, made excuses and was super rude. He commented on my baseboards not being done (not relevant) and muttered to the owner "you'd think shed be grateful". The Owner agreed with me though and said he'd have it fixed. Two weeks passed and I heard nothing. When I followed up he told me he was sending a separate company to fix it and someone from that company would call. When the new guy came I went over all the issues with him. He made an appointment for one of his guys to come fix all the issues and suggested I have him paint it as well. I agreed to pay the extra money to have the trim painted, while the repairs were being covered by Fenex. However, this person only ended up painting over all the damage, he didn't repair anything. So now the damage will be more difficult to repair.

So after months and months of back and forth, poor communication and unreturned emails, at least 7 return visits to my home by various people, epic levels of disrespect and gaslighting, and extra few hundred dollars out of my pocket, I still have crappy looking trim and an uneven kitchen window and will either have to live with it or pay even more to another contractor to fix it properly. And if it's this bad on the outside I shudder to think if theres more issues lurking behind the trim that I cant see.

Through all of this, not a single apology from Fenex. As a single female homeowner I've grown sick and tired of being treated like garbage by trades people who try to trick me into thinking I'm being unreasonable because "that's just how it is" so they don't have to take responsibility for their poor workmanship.

I wish I had rehired the company that did my basement windows. They did a much better/cleaner job without any of the hassle.

When my flooring job went badly due to an inexperienced crew, the company immediately agreed to pull it all out, fix the issues and replace it at no extra cost to me. No hassle, no back and forth, no denial and gaslighting, just great customer service. Thats how its supposed to be done.

Defective window caused water and mould damage

After having denied for years since 2017 that a window Fenex sold me was defective, this company now admits that not only one but two of the windows I purchased from them are defective. Both windows have warped and one has caused water and mould damage in my daughters bedroom, which I discovered on Nov 30, 2021. Fenex refuses to pay in full for these damages, even though the first gap from warping appeared in 2017, a second one in 2018, at which time Fenex conducted adjustments to the window frame instead of replacing it.After finally admitting that two windows are defective in Feb 2022 they offered to replace them both and install them at no cost to me, only to go back on their offer this past May 20, 2022, adding that they are removing any and all warranty from the new replacement windows and that I now have to install them myself. They also demand to severe our business relationship and that I refrain from posting any reviews on their business on any platform whatsoever, ever.

Front Door

I bought a door from « Fenex Windows and Doors » to replace my existing front door. The salesperson Stephane arrived promptly and examined the door. He explained and pointed out where and why my door was leaking and highly recommended I replace the door. There was no pressure in purchasing from Fenex but knowing that some neighbours in my area had experienced excellent service with this company, I decided to buy from Fenex. Stephane helped me choose the colour, the pattern in the window and the door handle. The installation went extremely well and my door from the outside is breathtakingly beautiful. Nevertheless, after the installers left, I examined the indoor framing and wasn’t pleased at all with the installation of the frame around the door. I sent pictures to Stephane and the very next day Serge arrived to examine the workmanship and agreed that it was subpar. At MY convenience, Serge returned and redid the frame work in a timely and professional way. Now my front door is absolutely beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. This is what I call excellent professional service ! Fenex Windows and Doors went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased and extremely satisfied. I would highly recommend this company.

Poor customer service

Purchased a door that was poorly installed. The bottom of it came unglued and came home to the bottom panel on the ground and a 1” gap. Called and emailed pictures asking them to return to repair and they said our 2-year warranty was expired by 1 month. When I told them the bott on panel shouldn’t have been glued they denied this and told me they don’t install it this way. I don’t know how they expect me to believe this when who else would’ve installed it but them!
Emtek key guard plate is discoloured but the handle is perfect on the outside so the 2 pieces do not match. Seems to be oxidizing but they haven’t been returning my calls.
So disappointed in them and we regret purchasing our door through them. We recently purchased new windows and went with a different company.
What once was a reputable business in Orleans is now one people avoid.

By far the worst windows company in Ottawa.

Fenex sales person sold me what he called triple glazed 16” window pane windows that would reduce outside noise completely. They are not. Right after the installation the noise level increased like never before. One window cracked with the cold and upon examination, the two outer glass panes seem to be approximately 3 mm in thickness, with a paper thin laminate in between, which cannot resist our Ottawa winters. Since 2013 we have had approximately SIX windows replaced for the same issue: condensation inside the window panes. It has been extremely inconvenient dealing with defective/cheap windows year after year for seven years! Fenex continues replacing bad windows with bad windows, until the warranty runs out, and then, I will be forced to pay the full amount to replace their poor quality windows with another company with quality windows, thus losing thousands of dollars! This is substandard customer service. After seven years of being patient with this company and the ongoing window issues, I do not recommend this company to anyone.

Windows and Doors replacement

We purchased our house back in 1987 and we were looking at replacing all of our doors and windows throughout the house. We did shop around and decided to go with Fenex. We had heard about Fenex through friends, colleagues and former clients. I must say that without a doubt Fenex Windows & Doors were wonderful to deal with...extremely professional and friendly from the first time we spoke and met with James. We had everything replaced in 2007 by Fenex and are very pleased with the end results. The installation process and replacement of all of our windows and doors from start to finish was just impeccable. To this date we are very pleased with the end results.

Fenex have been in business for the past 40 years + and there is a good reason for this. What makes them stand out from the competition is their dedication, expertise and service not to mention the quality of their product and the biggest being the warranty facet. A few years back we had to get a window replaced due to condensation, we liaised with them and the window was replaced in a very short timeframe and service was just impeccable. We will definitely recommend Fenex to anybody who is looking in replacing their doors and windows, this is a one stop shop and would not even shop anywhere else. Knowing that dealing with Fenex brings you peace of mind. They stand behind their warranty and product. Cujo Fenex.
