The Home Inspection Guy No Longer In Business

I picked Joe based on the reviews I read here. He has lived up to those reviews in professional knowledge, detail of analysis, and timely reports. We are relieved to have the in depth review provided to know the priorities for repair as we have just bought an investment property in Hamilton of an old but beautiful house.

I discovered Joe and his company through Homestars. He performed a home inspection for me in Hamilton. Joe knows the Hamilton area pretty well.

I believe the person in the previous review hit the nail on the head on all accounts. Joe was very punctual, showing up earlier than me to perform an initial review of the exterior. During the inspection, Joe would bring all concerns and insights to my attention. He also used an assortment of high tech tools, such as a camera mounted on a mast that allowed him to view the shingles without even venturing up onto the roof. I found his inspection to be quite thorough; he was able to spot a large gaping hole in the attic floor. Phew! He's a polite,intelligent and articulate individual.

At the end of the inspection he provided me a verbal review along with a company binder. A soft copy report was emailed to me within 2 hours - excellent!

Please keep in mind that Joe is only one of 35 certified home inspectors in Ontario. He's not a run of the mill inspector, he's paid his dues through plenty of schooling and seminars.

We hired Joe based on a recommendation by our Realtor and we are thrilled with the results. I created an account on here just so I can rate and rave about Joe.

He arrived 30 minutes prior to the inspection so that he could review the outside of the house and then gave us the outside walk through. He then went through each room, nook and cranny and explained everything he was doing, why and any concerns he had.

He was incredibly thorough, well spoken and easy to understand. He took photos of everything (including model and serial numbers of the appliances!).

He provided us with a binder to put his report in (including blank hole punched paper!) Within a few hours we had the report with photos and his recommendations.

Not only was he extremely organized and thorough but he had a great sense of humour. We would not hesitate to recommend Joe to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

I did lot of research online and in the local community to find a home inspector with good credentials and experience. Out of all companies, small and large, Joe stood out as an organized, skilled and experienced inspector. And he was exactly that! He arrived well on time, took us through a complete walk-through of the home, identified structural and systems deficits, gave us many helpful home maintenance tips and even shared some valuable anecdotes from personal experience with us. This guy was very good at what he does and went above and beyond what any home inspector normally would.

If you're looking for an inspector who is familiar with older homes, Joe the Home Inspection Guy is your man. I hired him to inspect the 100+-year-old home I was considering buying (which I did end up purchasing). He is a Registered Home Inspector (RHI) and a a Certified Master Inspector. He has a lot of specialized equipment, like a device that checks for moisture and a machine that allows him to view the roof from the ground. He checked everything -- even crawling up into the attic -- took digital photos of all problem areas, and explained everything he found to me along the way. He provides the final report, including the photos, electronically so that you can view and save it online or print it out yourself, and gives you a binder to put it in with other home-maintenance information. He's also a really nice guy, and seems to be well-known in the area.
