Eavestrough Repair

It took a couple of years to tweak the eavestrough job, but Issac of Eastern Eavestroughs came through. In several visits over time, he made the most important repairs to his job.Happily, now long icicles hanging from in front of our bay windows and dripping from the corners of the house are no longer a problem. Pipes expanded from the ice over the last couple of winters have been cleaned out. For a fee, the shingle company who replaced our shingles with new ones before we changed eavestroughs come back to re-position the shingles in front of the bay window so that they would stop curling behind the newly-installed eavestroughs. I took lots of pictures so Issac could see what the dripping issues were in several different spots along the roof.

This fall Issac cleaned out the pipe that expanded over the garage, saying it had about two inches of (oak) mulch in it. He has suggested that we get our eavestroughs cleaned out every year. I do it myself on the first roof level, but will be looking for an eavestrough cleaner to take care of the highest roof of the house which I cannot reach. It gets filled with oak leaves from a neighbour's tall tree.

We had replaced the original eavestroughs to change the colour from light yellow to beige. Even if we had not changed the eavestroughs, given the size of the neighbour's tree which dominates his back yard and leans over our pool , the large oak leaves probably would have become a problem for the former light yellow eavestroughs as well.

Issac made corrections to the job under warranty. He was very fair with me. He says he checked and cleaned out all the eavestroughs he installed on our house and took pictures as well.

I am thankful knowing that no pipes should explode this winter.

My mother's farm house is next to a 180 year old walnut tree. Her house has no eavestroughs and no leaf problems. I wonder how a house like ours here in Unionville would fare if there were no eavestroughs to catch leaves or water. I know of no houses in this city that are without eavestroughs.

Next summer I think I will install a water barrel to catch the drain off by the side of the garage rather than have water rush down the driveway bricks causing erosion. Our driveway is now too inches below the floor of the garage so the car has to take a bit of a run at it to get in. Next job will be redoing the driveway bricks for the fourth time. I recognize that with house ownership there is always a job requiring attention.

The eavestroughs do look lovely against our brickwork and work well with the roofing and new windows.

Thanks Yvonne for your updated review. Your comments reinforce the importance of cleaning your eaves trough before the winter every year to avoid leaking and damages.

Soffits and eavestroughs replacement

Eastern Eavestroughs replaced our entire eavestroughs and soffit system in the fall of 2011. Almost two years have past and the job is yet to be completed satisfactorily. We are still waiting for the eavestrough in front of the bay window and main entrance to the home to be repaired. There is a problem with leaks as well as stagnant water above the front door entrance area. The problem has not yet been solved by Isaac who has promised to repair the defective area. Many emails and phonecalls later, we are still waiting for the promise to be fulfilled. I hope to be able to write a more positive review in the future. One positive comment is that the colour is nice.

eaves, fascia, soffits.

Eastern Eavestrough provided a free quote and I was so impressed with Issacs professionalism and genuine manner, I didn't get any more quotes and hired his company. The men that did my eaves soffits and fascia were hard workers (despite the heat) professional, extremely pleasant and they did a phenomenal job. But, nobody showed up the next day or the day after that to complete the job despite Issac telling me the job would be complete in a day and a half. No call was made to me regarding this, I had to call the company. I was not impressed but I let it go. Issac arrived at my house after the work was done with a whole new attitude, he was abrupt, showed a bad attitude when he felt I didn't understand a question he asked me twice and didn't ask me if I was satisfied with the job, just if I liked the color. He was not the humble and genuine man I met during the quote. Upon his inspection of the job he found several small screws left from the job and made a huge deal about this finding telling me he was going to reprimand his employees for not picking them up. A very small deal to the receiver of professional workmanship but the huge deal was the owner not taking 10 seconds to phone me and tell me that my work was not going to be done on schedule. I will not recommend this company despite a friend asking for the business card, not because of a few screws on the ground but because of the abrupt change in attitude in the owner once the job was done and making such a huge deal about his employees leaving a few small screws on the ground when it was his behavior which turned me against this company.

Company Response

Nancy,
We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the breakdown in communication between you, a valuable customer, and our company. We have a separate crew, specializing in the eaves installation and they were held up on another job and could not make it to your house the same day the siding crew was finished. This is a very busy time of year for us but that is no excuse for not keeping in prompt contact with our customers, so once again we are very sorry. As for Isaac's abrupt manner, this comes as a surprise as he usually goes above and beyond his customer's expectations. Unlike other companies that hire salesmen, Isaac brings his 30 years of experience directly to every customer. Isaac makes sure every job is completed to his satisfaction and this includes the cleanup of all materials. The screws and nails he picked up are potential safety hazards to bare feet and pets.
We are happy to hear that you found our workers to be "professional, extremely pleasant and they did a phenomenal job".
Thank you for the business and please contact us if you have any concerns with your job.

Eavestroughs

Isaac MacMillan from Eastern installed our eavestroghs about 3 years ago, and did an excellent job. They've worked extremely well ever since. But the real story here is after sales service. When we had a big tree trimmed, a branch fell on the corner of the eavestrough and damaged it. Isaac responded to our panic call in less than 2 hours and got up on the roof and repaired the damage, at no charge. His service is outstanding

I had a plugged downspout and was unsure what else could be wrong. I found Eastern Eavestroughing on HomeStar and sent them an e-mail. With in 24 hours Isac replied and came to look at my issues. He is amazing. He did not try to sell me anything I did not need and resolved my issue quickly and professionally. I have would highly recommend Isac and Eastern Eavestrough to anyone.

Replace eaves

I noticed that the drain from eave on the East corner of the house had come away from the roof.

I called Issac and he promptly came over. He said he would fix it for $350 but strongly recommended that I replace my 25 year old eaves. I saw what he was talking about and agreed with him.

His staff came over on the appointed day and they did the job.

They reduced the number of down drains as Issac said it is better to route them with gradations rather than have multiple downspouts.

Since the installation, we have had a few snowstorms this winter and rain and they seem to be doing just fine.

Issac promised that as long as I have his number, he will be there for my eaves and I plan to hold him to that.

Eavestrough replacement

We needed to get our problem eavestrough replaced so after several calls we decided to give Eastern a try. We were very impressed with their professionalism, honesty, and at the end their workmanship too. They listened to us, gave us what we wanted, the colour we wanted, even fixed our problem with one of the downspouts in the wrong place, and did it all in just one day! I would most definitely highly recommend this compan to anyone that asks because of not only how great a job they did, but the care they too in everything they did. Way to go Eastern...!
