Hardwood installation and refinishing

We just had our existing hardwood floor refinished and added new hardwood to complete the main level kitchen, dining room and family room. The team at Woodchuck completed the task beautifully, on time and on budget. They worked with us to ensure that the stain was what we wanted, kept us informed on the progress and what we needed to do to ensure that the floor had time to set up and dry properly. Great company to have working on your home.

New Flooring

Working with Woodchuck was a pleasure. I wish all working relationships went this well.
Every person I spoke to and met was competent, genuine and knew what they were doing. Mike gave recommendations based on experience which made the finished product look that much better. I greatly appreciate that they did and spoke up about what they thought was the right thing to do. Kaz, our installer did beautiful work! Everything was done in a timely manner and we are very happy with the results.

engineered hardwood floor installation

I heard about Woodchuck Flooring on the radio and at the time of deciding on re-doing the main floor in my home I figured it would be best to speak with a company where "Flooring is what they do" and from the moment of walking in to the store I new I was dealing with people who really understand their business. From purchase to install, the project was handled by experienced individuals and on time as scheduled. My installer Kaz was fantastic, very meticulous! The new floors are beautiful! Thanks Woodchuck for a great product and superior service.

Hardwood Flooring

We were referred to Woodchuck flooring by a friend. From the moment we walked through the door and met the knowledgable and friendly staff to the completion of the laying of the new floor, our experience was positive. I recommend Woodchuck flooring for the following reasons:
>Product Range
>Product Availability
>Product Quality
>Product Price
>Knowledgable staff
>Detailed and easy to read quote
>Work done in line with original quote - no surprises
>Excellent workmanship of installer

We researched many different flooring suppliers and installers and chose Woodchuck flooring because we had heard that they deliver on all of the above factors - and they did!

Removing old and installing new hardwood floor on main level

Excellent timely work by courteous professional team with care to property, residents, and product. Highly recommended. We chose an expensive product, still they beat competition prices in both product and workmanship. Special thanks to Mike and Wally.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Can't think of anything, great job.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Shop around, beware of additional charges that don't make sense, like "moving furniture" quoted by one installer at a cost higher than moving all our belongings to another house. Also try to get a comprehensive quote for all your needs at once, subsequent variation orders can be costly and can interfere with schedules.

Hardwood Flooring for Main and upstairs

Woodchuck is great. I searched across the GTA for high quality flooring at a reasonable price. Then I selected Woodchuck. For me, they are a leader in providing value for money.

floor renos

I had the floors redone in my home and after much searching around and asking for references decided on Woodchuck Flooring...Nick - who came to do the work was prompt, professional, did a great and thorough job and clean up after...and under schedule ....I would and have now already recommended this company...which is still the best form of advertising - word of mouth...

Hardwood Flooring

Had water damage from a burst pipe and on a contractor's recommendation went with Woodchuck even though they were more expensive than other installers. They installed 2 damaged boards and offered to puddy over them. Also floors squeaked. I was told this was because the subfloor did not end at a joist, and there was nothing they could do about it now that the floor was laid. I paid for the subfloor to be nailed down ($350 extra) and was not impressed. Floors has dime sized gaps in between floorboards- I was told this is because I bought a low quality wood. I am uncertain on why they would sell wood that low quality that the boards wouldn't fit together.

Overall they seems professional, but I did not receive a professional installation. Installation was ok(you won't notice it when you cover it with furniture), but i kind of expected more for the price. They were happy to receive their money for a mediocre job and move on.

Approximate cost of services:
$6,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Improve installation, do not install with gaps in between boards or use damaged boards.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Get specifics around installation, i.e., gaps in floor, squeaking floors, etc.. Make certain project management comes onsite to inspect work more than once at the end.

We regret to hear that the outcome of our work is not to your satisfaction. We certainly want to leave every job with a satisfied client.
When we were first made aware of your concerns, we visited the job site but found that construction debris covered much of the floor. We offered to come back once this situation was rectified, but have not heard as yet.
In our showroom, one of our staff explained the differences between the floor you selected and a more expensive choice. Early on in the planning of your project, adding another layer of plywood was offered but refused. This is unfortunate as it would have helped with a couple of your concerns. Simply renailing a subfloor will reduce, but not eliminate squeaks. An uneven subfloor will give an end result of gapping where the flooring is installed over the higher areas simply because the boards will not come together tightly over such an uneven surface. All Prefinished flooring must be carefully protected after installation if further construction work is going on to avoid damage such as scratching or denting.
Please contact us should you wish for us to revisit your job and evaluate your concerns.
