Sure Loc Interlocking - Out of Business

Ok so where do I begin, disaster on all levels. Stay away from these jokers, they are not a professional or reputable interlock company.
I honestly don't think that they know what they're doing. You're better off going elsewhere or trying it on your own. I knew they were going to be trouble, my instincts said go elsewhere, but I went with it due to the fact that it was a smallish job...boy was that ever a mistake.

I have to bring in another company now to redo their work, which was confirmed to be a disaster, it was incomplete, it was uneven and the grading was going against my home instead of towards the grass. The owner Ron cam over and tried to bully me into paying in full and I gave him a piece of my mind. He left scared with his tail between his legs, he wont be doing that again. I recently saw his vehicle in my area all spray painted, I guess he screwed someone else off and didn't honour his word. Even his sales guy cant stand him b/c of all the BS, what a chooch! Buyer beware - go elsewhere, they're a waste of time and money.

Stay away from this company! I should have walked way without my deposit when it them 3 months to complete the job that was fairly small!
We will have to redo it this coming summer! Waste of money, time and sanity!

Work was done by someone who had no clue what he was doing and we were harassed to pay cash before job was complete! Terrible experience overall! stay away!

Used this company 2 years ago and am still waiting for one of the the owners, Ron, to call me back with a remedy to the horrible concrete job they did. There are divots, discolorations, roughness, uneven parts. Made a mess and broke things. Took him almost a year to come the first time, then he left it up to me to google a "fix". There is no fix. The remedy is to tear it out and do it again, according to the internet, and he refused to do anything. He refuses to call me with his remedy or solution. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!! NO WARRANTIES, NO GUARANTEES, NO CONSCIENCE!

Avoid this company. Nothing but pain. Simple job turned into a huge mess. My summer BBQ was on dirt because they did not install the right brick. What a drama show.

4 years ago we had sure-loc do our backyard. We were very happy with the work and they even came back the next year for touchups.

Last year we had them do our front yard and noticed the quality was not put into it like the previous job. After 1 winter everything needed to be sanded again. Talked to them in May to come fix it... now it's November and nothign but excuses.

Overall work was ~$25k.

Hired them to put a patio in our backyard. The sales person and the person overseeing the completion and payment have both left the company. Upon completion we discovered the patio was sloped so all the water ran into the foundation whenever it rained. We contacted the company and they promised to fix it. After two years of excuses as to why he cannot come and repair the patio, I am hiring another company to do the repairs and taking Sure loc to court. Horrible customer service.

I wanted to do a major outdoor transformation with refreshed landscaping, lighting, interlock and rear patio pad. After months of quotes and reference checks, I selected Surloc because the sales rep was great. He was knowledgeable, responsive and worked with me to come up with the right plan. However after the project was underway my opinion of the company changed. I had them back twice to fix short comings which they did with a few reminders however we are 2 years after the initial project and they have been dodging my emails and phone calls regarding outstanding warranty work they committed to do since last spring. I have heard every excuse in the book (labor, weather, lost the paperwork, service rep sent said he fixed it). They also told me I still owed them money which is far from the truth. Adding to the extremely poor experience, I wrote a review on Homestar which I was promptly contacted by Surlec customer service advising that if I don't remove the post immediately they would cancel my warranty, withhold the repair because I am breaching their rules by going to a third party for help and sue me. I removed the post right a way to avoid loosing my warranty claim but at this point I don't care as I truly believe they have no intentions of honoring the warranty claim since its been over an entire year and nothing was done. I plan to file a complaint with Ministry of Consumer Affairs for their business practices and looking into civil litigation as I plan to hire another contractor to fix the issues. These guys give good contractors a bad name as they have gone from best to worse.

Still no monies returned from Sure-Loc. Tired of the games.

Still nothing. Shy of 3 months and Sure-Loc has not provided a refund for their breach of contract. We are out $31.5k.

They also came on our property unannounced a few weeks ago and took the materials (12 steps) they had dropped off (who does this??) They left the garden wall stones on the driveway (blocking the second garage door for 6 weeks)

I would not recommend this company!

Hired on to do a job after our first interlocking contractor kept delaying their start date, Sureloc knew exactly what our situation was, expectations and timelines. After what we believed were cordial and trust worthy conversations, they began work on our property July 21, 2016 with a very long day and excavation work (lots of equipment and staff, what I believe now was smoke in mirrors). When Shawn and Gina arrived to quote on July 16, 2016 – we were quoted 4-5 day turnaround completion from the start date. We were explicit with our circumstances having just put in a fiberglass pool and needing someone to do concrete and stone work around the pool ASAP to ensure a strong foundation and allow for immediate pool use.

Our first interlocking contractor had put us in a pickle with delays and we had had enough. We told Sureloc clearly – we don’t want to start end of July and finish mid August with the contractor we have. We want faster. Can you do it? Sureloc said they had the equipment and manpower to do the job, boasting they owned their assets, never rented equipment, were in the business 20+ years. Shawn said Omg, that’s terrible, can’t believe they (other interlocker) would do this. We can do this fast, so you can have your pool and backyard to enjoy! Our boys can load up the diesel!

Every pain point they had was met with how Sureloc was committed to deliver. I see it was now pure lip service.

On July 19th we gave Sureloc $5,000 cash which they pushed us to provide to order the stone quickly given the job timelines. On July 21st, excavation day – they refused my draft of $21,600 and requested cash. I went to three banks to give Gina, sales manager my hard earned money. She even had the nerve to say – None of this is for labor, this is mostly to get your stone here asap.

Fast forward now, a painful 7 weeks has passed and our property is still a disaster.

Constant calls chasing, Gina and Shawn went dark. Finally after a few weeks of emails and voicemails and nervous breakdowns, Ron the owner calls.

Then the games begin. Stone to settle, feels loose. Weather delays (there was barely any rain!), stone on backorder. This is where it gets interesting. They boast Best Way stone as the best, Permacon sucks, Techo Bloc no good. I start daily calls to Best Way’s order desk. Guess what? No order. Weeks pass and finally they show up, wrong concrete – no fibre mesh. Come back a week later, concrete in. Mess. Two weeks pass and a terrible coping job is done. Chipped stone installed. Glue lines fully visible across the perimeter of the pool. Kids cut their feet on the sharp edges. The construction site they've left is unsafe!

It’s September 8th now. Backyard and front yard still fully excavated. Dust everywhere. Stones and nails everywhere from bad gravel also – not clean. Garbage.

Now we’re fighting time to close the pool and they continue to take us on a roller coaster of headache and frustration.

We wouldn’t want this for anyone in the world. They took our money and keep pretending stuff is happening behind the scenes or through having a few hundred dollars worth of retaining wall and steps sitting on our property blocking the driveway for weeks.

Save your sanity, this is our personal heartbreaking experience. I’ve woken up every day for 7 weeks to this nightmare….and it still continues.

Pool coping pictures- work is not done well. Glue visible in prominent areas around the pool, stone is not level (no shims used), cracked stone used for project while surplus leftover is better stone than the ones laid.

Update: September 14, 2016 Sureloc continues to be evasive. Lots of emails back and forth telling us they are ready but they want to meet to discuss the project scope (why????, it's all in the breached contract) and then silence all over again.

I had my backyard done by Sureloc, the work was done great and no complaints but did need some repair work done after a year a hlf from completion day, and called theM several time, sPoke with NATALIE, Daniella who promised that they will call me, never heard back and kept waiting for months. now i am past the warranty time and they are blaming me not requesting repair work on time.
This morning Ron(Owner) showed up himself and assesed the repair work and approved it. i am really impressed with the fact the owner takes everything so much seriously. Well done Ron!

We used Sureloc to install a backyard patio, side walk and fix the garden edge. After signed the agreement, the job was completed within 3 weeks. Our house is a corner lot and a lot of work need to be done. They have proper equipments that worked really efficiently to do the excavation , I think nobody can beat them. We don't need to worry about if they dig 8" deep or not because for sure they did much more than that. The stone/block installation team is also awesome and did great job. Dallas, the boss， was on site during the job and everything was under control. The sales guy, Shawn, can be reached when you need him. We did minor changes in design after the job started , needed more material to finish the job. They were so nice did not charge anything for it.
