My wife and I worked closely with Mike to redo the master bathroom in our home. Mike was extremely professional and polite and made sure that we were kept up to date with the project at every step. Mike provided a clear and accurate quote at the beginning of the project and he stuck to the price even as we made mild changes to our requirements as the project progressed. The final product is beautiful. We could not be more pleased with the result. Highly recommended. We will use Mike again!

We met with several potential contractors (all very highly rated on Homestars) for our basement renovation before choosing Sonoma contracting, and we have no regrets!

Our project was a basement renovation of about 800 square feet, including a new 3-pc bathroom.

Mike was very laid back and not pushy. He listened carefully to what we wanted, and took the time to give us a tour of one of his nearly completed projects in our neighbourhood. We were very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and attention to detail.

The bulk of the work was finished from mid-November to mid-March (about 4 months), and we’ve just finished a few (minor) final touches this week. It took a little longer than we anticipated, but we were ok with this because steady progress was being made – we never felt abandoned.

In terms of budget, we came in about $15K above his estimate, but this was all due to upgrades that we asked for as the job progressed, such as upgrading our electrical service from 100 Amps to 200 Amps, and upgrading our flooring and bathroom fixtures. What I really appreciated was that we paid for the work in stages, after each stage was completed to our satisfaction.

Without hesitation, I would use Sonoma again and recommend them to others. We are thrilled with how our basement turned out, now the rest of the house looks shabby!

Overall work quality was good. Time frame for complition of tasks were fast, and workers were very friendly and helpful. Painiting and floor change in 2 bedroom apartment took 2 days, with one day of cleaning.

Mike and Aldo were great throughout the project. We had full trust at every stage and it was very clear they took pride in their work and everyone of their trades were very high quality. Attention to detail was evident and we truly love the finished project. They were also patient when we made minor tweaks along the way and always made an effort to talk through things with us to make sure we were comfortable. We will use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. So relieved we picked them.

Mike was professional and on budget. He managed a strong crew and I am still impressed with the finish and details. He really knew what he was doing, and we fully trusted him. The basement is stunning and everyone who sees it is impressed. I asked for a few extra items and he easily completed everything.

Mike and his crew saved us from a basement reno that had been badly started by another contractor. The difference in quality of workmanship was remarkable, night and day. His electrician even went out of his way to help us get money back from the previous contractor for the faulty wiring that had been done in the basement.

Mike is a true professional, we received a detailed quote from him with a fair price for the amount of work involved, his expert crew delivered a fantastic finished product.They came in and did what was needed to fix the issues with electrical, framing, they put up the wallboard and painted.
Our previous contractor subcontracted work to people that delivered sub-par work. This did not happen with Mike, the guys on his job were awesome, and took pride with their work, making sure the job was done right. If we had concerns or issues they were dealt with in a timely matter and Mike always made sure we were happy with what was happening. And we are. Happy, delighted even. Would I hire Mike and his crew again? Yes, without question.

I had a small bathroom reno done and tiling replaced in two other rooms. Everything turned out the way I envisioned. I thought the estimate he gave me was detailed and also much less than other estimates I received.

What I appreciated the most was how Mike always kept on top of things and kept the work going. It was such a huge relief not to have to chase people to get things done. He constantly checked in with me and his tradespeople were always on time - you could tell they were very skilled too. I was especially impressed with the plumber he used who had to make extra unexpected trips and was always great.

There were a few glitches along the way, as in any job, and Mike ensured they were corrected to my satisfaction. His painter came in to fix an area on the wall around the plumbing and ended up finishing my own crappy paint job. Mike did not charge me for this. There was a bit of extra work that could not have been predicted and I found the extra costs minimal.

The only critique I have is that it took a bit of time in the beginning to meet with Mike to discuss my plans. However, my job was small in comparison to what he normally has and I found the same scenario with the other contractors I saw. Also, he had an unforeseen emergency on one of the scheduled dates. I totally understood because that's life.

I would highly recommend Mike and would definitely use him again.

We have a 100+ year old home and the only bathroom upstairs was probably renovated about 30 years ago. Mike and the entire Sonoma Contracting team did an amazing job renovating our bathroom and bringing it up to today's standards. We relied on their expertise to help with some of the decision making and the results were beyond our expectations The team was professional and easy to work with. Mike was great about checking in to see if we were happy with the progress throughout the renovation. We plan to use Sonoma for future renovation projects.

Mike and his crew were excellent. His structural and finishing carpenters are work horses. Sonoma gave us the basement we envisioned from the plans. The finish was very clean and professional. The job was completed relatively on time and any changes we made were resolved quickly. We highly recommend them!
