OK, this is a long time coming, but hear me out. 10 years ago, we hired Sonoma based on a referral. Mike is extremely personable and sold us on his team of contractors. The job was pretty substantial - completely new concrete floor, install in floor water radiant heat, sprayfoam insultation, lay new flooring, move plumbing for a bathroom from one side of the house to the other side, and deliver a spa like bathroom experience. On top of all this, is of course framing, electrical, drywall/mud, pot lights, and replacement of old lead pipes to PEX. I can remember the ups and downs and arguments we had with the team leader (Arlo if I recall his name correctly). The team had one star that outshone all the rest of the team, their carpenter. He was an older gentleman, and likely well retired by now. But I can't sing his praises loud enough. He was a true master, and delivered exceptional product.
It took me so long to write this, because I like to see quality and low cost like everyone else - BUT, I more-so like to see how long craftmanship can hold up. Quality craftsmanship is something that we lack these days. Sonoma delivered exceptional quality in all aspects. They may be the highest priced contractor team available (or maybe not anymore), but they truly held up their end of the bargain. 10/10 would recommend!
We are going to likely continue to work with this company into the future, depending on if they're still around to work with us!

We hired Sonoma/Mike on referral from the company we used to underpin our basement. This worked really well because both companies communicated throughout the process. I talked to tons of contractors and got a lot of quotes for this project. Our stairs needed to be rebuilt and I wanted to tear out a wall and closet on the main level as well. A lot of contractors didn't understand how the stairs could be rebuilt given the tight space, but Mike said we could get a much better staircase in there. Other contractors also said we'd have to rip up all the main floor in the hallway/kitchen to tear out the wall and closet, but Mike made it work without having to do that. In the end we have a nice open hallway with amazing new stairs/railings, a new side door, new basement windows, a tankless water heater, much improved electrical including a new panel, and a beautiful functional basement.

The project took a little longer than planned, but we are very happy with the finished project.

After 25 years of home ownership we have had our share of experiences with general contractors. Sonoma comes out head and shoulders above any work we had done prior to this.

Mike was always professional. We always had the impression he was engaged in our vision for the finished reno. The price was fair, despite the challenges of inflation, ballooned materials costs, and supply-chain issues that clobbered everyone in 2022. We finished with a basement we love, that is practical, beautiful, and meets our needs. No regrets and we recommend Sonoma after our superlative experience with them.

We hired Mike to finish our basement; he was great to work with immediately. He listened to all our needs and wants and made helpful suggestions. We constantly communicated throughout the process, and he would always come in to check on his crew.

I hired Mike, Aldo and their team to refinish my basement after I had it lowered and waterproofed and I could not be happier! Mike was incredibly responsive and always got back to me on my millions of questions super quickly. The quote was very competitive/reasonable and the work was done on budget and in time. Sonoma's trades were lovely- all of them! I appreciated their professionalism and good advice. They also work together on projects regularly so they did lots of tag teaming and sharing of resources and ideas as needed, which I really appreciated- for example my designer made a pretty big mistake and I had to revise the floor plan and the HVAC specialist was there when it happened and helped us to trouble shoot. They also were able to coordinate behind the scenes since they all know each other and work together and this resulted in efficiencies and excellent coordination. Each and every trade was diligent and they were great communicators. They did everything they could to keep things clean and tidy and to minimize impact on us since we were living here throughout. The final result is beautiful. I have heard so many reno nightmares and this was such a smooth and pleasant experience, I would recommend Sonoma to anyone!

From the beginning he cared about our project, he appreciated our vision, while at the same time sharing his thoughts and ideas (all of which were excellent and we implemented).

He understood our budget and our timeline and he worked within both.

And just as importantly he was always available; a quick text or call away to answer any questions we had.

And when the project was finished (which was a new kitchen, replaced flooring, entire home painting, and three new bathrooms) it all looked amazing.

Hired Mike at Sonoma Contracting very last minute for my home reno project. I was on a strict timeline and Mike promised he would get the job done within my timelines. As the project progressed, I decided last minute to reno the basement and 3 bathrooms which wasn't in the initial quote but Mike still managed to get it done within my time frame. Sonoma was amazing. Couldn’t be happier with the process and the outcome. Premium service without a premium price.
