We needed wireless for whole system as our house was finished. Some sensors began failing. We were told that the whole system had to be replaced since that line was discontinued.
I was adamant that I wanted to have a new system based on a wireless standard so that this would not happen again (that replacement parts would always be available). They were adamant that was not an option. They wanted us to take the full risk that we may need to replace an entire ~$2000 system at anytime in the future. Neither they nor the manufacturers are willing to take any risk.
So I closed down the account. Or so I thought. I got a bill around a year later that we have an overdue balance. We did not have a functioning alarm system during that time; we were not getting any service. Their monitoring centre would clearly see our system was not running.
I explained the situation but they absolutely insisted that I pay that balance. I was clear that we do want the service, we DO want to be a customer, but we want to make sure we have a long-term service for our investment. Nope. So after about 2 years, I will pay the bill, sign up with another company, and leave these reviews. For the gain of $162.04 they have lost at least one revenue stream, likely more.
