Great flat roofer specialists, featured on episode two of the Mike Holms show. Knowledgable, fast and efficient, were able to explain what the problem was, and able to fix it within our own timeframe.

Called three well reviewed roofers on Home stars. Avenue Rood Roofers had a knowledgeable person answering the phone, the other two I left a message and never got my call returned. Avenue Roof Roofers called me back within 15 minutes as promised to confirm a 2pm appt that day. They came on time, gave me a reasonable quote for a small job and came back, repleaced the damaged singles as promised.
The other two companies didn't even bother to call me back as it was a small job. Thank you Avenue Road Roofing. Now I know why Mile Homes uses these guys on his show,

I replaced my shingles in 2001 with 30 year waranty shingles and was very concerned to discover them failing so quickly.

I sought out several reputable contractors to replace my shingles and given my previous experience I paid extra attention to the quality of the shingles and the company warranties. I was very pleased with the time and care that Avenue Road Roofing provided to me to explain the different types of shingles, their own experience with the CertainTeed shingles, and their qualifications as a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster. They also gave me the opportunity to speak directly to the CertainTeed Sales reps to check out the warranty information.

In addition to my old shingles failing I had suffered water damage due to ice build up on the roof in 2010. Avenue Road Roofing recommended solutions that would eliminate that potential for water damage, gave me a fair price for the work to be done, and their staff completed the work in a timely and expert fashion.

While some would say there are no guarantees in the roofing business, I am satisfied that I have done my best to find a professional company that will stand behind its work, a warranty that is in reasonably plain English, and workmanship that I trust will stand the test of our our Canadian weather.

Avenue Road should not do flat roofs. it is a complicated application and should not be left to subcontractors. They replaced our flat roof and shingles in 2006. The install was done in the winter and every spring and every fall since then there has been a leak somewhere in the roof. The warranty people do come, but with varying levels of knowledge. One said it was plumbing. One said it was condensation. So far they have replaced all the roof vents on the back of the house (warranty), did one repair of a seam (warranty) and replaced all the downspouts and scuppers ($6000 on top of the original install) our house is 40x30ft, so not that grand that it warrants almost $30,000 in roof expenses. After several visits by the warranty team and many complaints they agreed to pay for the $2000 in interior damage. It has been 3 months and we are still waiting for payment. We asked to speak to the owner and he didn't even try to make contact with us. They don't use email. The voicemails from Doug Cochrane have been 'call me back'. The website does not give you a copy of the request. They don't acknowledge faxes. Had I known better I would have paid less and gone with someone else.

there were 3 men who came earlier in the week than they said they would so I was pleased. They arrived at 08:30 and were finished before 1700. The man who gave me the estimate was professional but friendly. I thought the price was a little high but they were efficient, friendly and cleaned up well afterward so I got what I paid for and would use them again.

I hired Avenue Road Roofing to replace my entire roof. They replaced the shingles, the boards, the eavestroughs and downspouts, and added additional soffit vents and gutter guards.

When Trevor came to provide me a quote, he went up to the roof to inspect it (some roofers didn't even do this), and made his recommendations. He also provided pictures to step me through previous jobs to help me understand the process and answered all of my questions. He also provided me with copies of their insurance and provided references.

The workers did a great job. They protected the rest of my house during the work and cleaned up when they were done. I would have no problem recommending them to others.

I had an excellent experience with Avenue Road Roofing. Upon buying our house earlier this year the home inspector pointed out that the flat roof had holes and would need to be looked at relatively soon. I took a look around Home Stars, and took to heart a reviewer who said that Avenue Road Roofing was like buying a Sony: it's more expensive, but you're paying for certainty that you'll get a high-quality, reliable product. We were very busy at the time and could have ill-afforded the time and energy needed to deal with an unreliable contractor who either did a poor job or refused to stand behind his work were it to fail in the future. What we needed was an exceptionally reliable company who would do very high-quality work, need minimal supervision, take care not to damage our property, clean up after themselves, and unequivocally stand behind their work. We got all of these with Avenue Road Roofing. (Because we have not had to test the warranty since we had the roof installed 4 months ago, we do not know what the quality or responsiveness of their warranty service is like. But we do know that the roof is warrantied against defects for 10 years, which is a good stretch of time.)

Their staff, from Dean, who came to the house and gave us a quote, to Barbara in the office who handled our scheduling needs, to Mario and his team of roofers, are the epitome of professionalism, politeness, good cheer and efficiency. They were all very good at what they did and showed the kind of attention to detail that a homeowner who is spending this much money on a single project expects. Mario's team was cheerful, polite, and very hard-working. They were also astonishingly diligent at protecting our bushes and garden from falling debris, as well as at cleaning up; having lived through two full re-roofings of Victorian homes in Toronto during my childhood, I was amazed at the clean state they left behind. (After they swept our patio I was pleased to note that it was, in fact, cleaner than it had been before they arrived - maybe I should get my roof redone more often.) Before leaving they inspected the property and garden with a fine-toothed comb to pick up stray pieces of roofing material, and they really did an excellent job - this is something that is not high priority for a lot of roofers (I can only speak from my previous experiences, where we continued to find chunks of roof in the flower beds a good 10 years after the roof was replaced!) and I was really very impressed. You could not, in fact, tell that any construction had been done on the house at all. Leaving an impeccably clean work site after the job is done is clearly a big priority for this company and it is one of the things you are paying for in their higher prices. (I should note that Mario went as far as covering the neighbour's lawn and porch with a tarp, in addition to our own; and was incredibly diligent in making sure that the large debris cart wheeled onto our front yard used the concrete paths and did not sit on the lawn, a procedure that took a good 30 minutes to execute successfully.)

Needless to say, I was quite pleased with Avenue Road Roofing. Overall, I would characterize them as fulfilling Mike Holmes' dictum of "doing it right the first time" - they are everything you expect an honest, reliable, diligent company to be. However, there is one caveat to my praise, and that is on price. They are definitely more expensive than other firms. Rather than characterizing them as a Sony I would say their prices are like Bose! Given our circumstances at the time (quite busy) it was worth it. But whether the higher price is worth it to you depends on whether you are able to do the legwork to research other companies, ask for references and talk to previous clients, and shoulder some of the uncertainty that comes from dealing with less well-known companies.

The work done was the full replacement of a flat roof at the rear of the house, of perhaps 280 square feet. The roof was previously uninsulated and so 4 inches of poly-iso (rigid) insulation were added. The price included the removal of all previous roofing materials (three layers - membrane with tar & gravel underneath), the insulation, flashings, and the removal of a single-flue chimney that was in disrepair and no longer in use. The work was completed in one day (7am-5pm).

The quality of the roof work is excellent, but quite expensive. The roof was installed in less than 1 day and the owner was easy to contact and approachable. I would recomment the company to friends and family.

The issue we were having was poor balcony flooring which was the roofing for the garage. Avenue were quick on meeting up and immediately determined the cause of leak and were very kind to assess the situation completely tests to confirm the problem. The job was done great, and is praised for their expertise. However, my only issue was receiving a quotation from them took much longer than expected. Three days ended up waiting almost a month. But at least the roof does not leak anymore.
