We were very satisfied with this company until we received an unsolicited invoice for wrrantee service one year later.
Salesperson Jeff was prompt and professional. We obtained three estimates and his was lowest. The installers were prompt, efficient and left the area clean. I did require two additional calls to straighten the air conditioner.
The shock came one year from installation when I received a numbered invoice requesting a payment for a service call to maintain my warrantee.
I reviewed my documentation to confirm that I had a warrantee with Lennox and had not signed any contract for an additional warrantee.
I called A1 and was asked to write an email to Peter. He did admit this was an added feature provided by A1 and apologized for the lack of clarity.
My concern remains that he did not indicate that they would cease using this very deceptive practice. Therefore be on the alert for this if you are using this company.

I am sorry that you have viewed our 10 year warranty program as a deceptive practice, but truthfully there is no reason for A1 to try and deceive our customers regarding warranty on our equipment sales. We are quite proud to be able to offer our customers an economical way to maintain the life of their equipment, as well as sheltering them from any costly break downs that may occur through the life of the equipment.
At the time of the sale the sales person gives the customer a warranty certificate that clearly states "To validate this warranty, you must have A1 perform an annual safety check and cleaning on the equipment you wish to have covered at the prevailing service rates."
As far as your manufacturer warranty, the manufacturer only covers the part that breaks down. You are left to cover the diagnostic call and the labour to replace the part. The manufacturer requires that all equipment be maintained on a yearly bases in order to qualify for the parts warranty, and keep the equipment working at optimal efficiency.
This 10 year warranty we offer our customers is fully optional and at no time do we pressure our customers to take the coverage. We offer this service to save our customers money in the long
run. I sincerely hope that you understand that we were not trying in any way to deceive you, and that you will remain a valuable customer of A1's in the future.
