Old furnace failed mid-winter. Since it was nearing the end of its useful life, had already budgeted to replace both the furnace and AC later in the year. But a mid-winter failure meant that a decision had to be made several months earlier than had been originally planned. Did consider a heat pump to take advantage of government rebates but relied on Richard's experience and knowledge and thus opted for a new furnace and AC instead. Going this route, not sure if I missed out on any other available homeowner rebates/credits, but the new furnace performed well for the balance of the winter and the new larger AC has also performed well this summer. Richard and his team are professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Highly recommend.

Our 19-year old gas fireplace looked tired, wasn’t working properly and was perilously close to being replaced. We decided to defer its fate until spring and simply have it serviced to get through this coming winter. I turned to HomeStars and found Gas Fireplace Services & Repair with many positive reviews. Imran appeared punctually at the appointed time (on a Sunday no less!). He is very professional and friendly. He is so knowledgeable and he patiently explained options and what needed to be done. He immediately set about fixing a gas leak and repairing the damage caused by many years of neglect, explaining what he was doing as he went along. Then he meticulously cleaned every inch of the fireplace. He even added embers - something we’d never had before. I wish I had a “before” picture because the “after” picture is amazing. I couldn’t stop exclaiming that he was a miracle worker as the results of the overhaul were simply unbelievable. The fireplace sparkles - it looks better than when it was new in 1999, and works better than it ever had. When the family saw it after he’d gone, they too were impressed. The area around the fireplace was kept very clean. He treated our home with the same care as if it were his own. Imran is a man who takes obvious great pride in his work and his reputation, and he was pleasant to chat with while he worked. I highly recommend his service. Homestars came through for me and I appreciate the many other reviewers who provided honest feedback about their positive experiences. The cost to completely overhaul the fireplace over 3 hours was money well spent and saved us the cost of a new replacement. I look forward to calling on him in the future for our annual inspection and cleaning.

What a pleasant experience - never have I been happier to spend money on a repair. One of the garage door cables became kinked and the door wouldn't open. Of course, the car was inside and it was the Friday afternoon of the Labour Day holiday weekend. After numerous fruitless calls to many who profess 24/7 emergency repair (apparently holidays are excluded), I lucked out and Eric cheerfully appeared on Saturday morning. He quickly fixed the problem and explained what had happened. I mentioned that I was about to replace the doors in the following weeks and he gave me some great advice and a reasonable quote for some new doors and capping. He also suggested I think about updating my older garage door openers that were 20+ years old. Two other quotes were already scheduled for the Tuesday after the holiday, and I am tempted to simply cancel those appointments and go with The Door Master. A quick peek on Homestars confirmed that this company is one of the best. This is a terrific example of how friendly customer service by a knowledgeable professional can lead to a unexpected larger sale. I just had the most remarkable furnace service call experience! The owner, Richard Payer and one of his team (I'm so sorry I forgot your name) were amazing. I had had a service call with another local HVAC company about 3 weeks ago and was appalled at the poor service and in particular that the technician tried to charge me more than the heavily advertised price of a service call. The furnace didn't seem to be working right after that service call with the other company, so I wanted a second opinion. I'd seen the Core Temp van around Oakville, read the positive reviews on Homestars and called for an appointment. Richard answered the call himself, and was able to come by a few hours later since he was in the neighbourhood. To say I was stunned is an understatement! Richard is a very knowledgeable and competent expert who immediately diagnosed the problem with the furnace, gave me an honest opinion about the potential need for a new furnace and provided an explanation of everything as he went along. Needless to say, I’ll be getting my new furnace installed by Core Temp as well as a new air conditioner in the spring. I cannot say enough about the positive experience. The price range quoted for a new furnace and air conditioner is competitive IMHO and I am happy to pay a bit more for a positive experience with someone who is trustworthy and reliable. And they were very pleasant too; nice guys DO finish first. I’ve never been so pleased; highly recommend Core Temp.

Outstanding!! From start to finish, this was the best experience. Had originally intended to install hardwood to replace carpeting in the living/dining room and family room but kept putting it off as I dreaded the thought of having to deal with the potential inconvenience and mess. What a surprise - from the in-store selection, through the estimate, delivery and installation – the process was a breeze. Special thank you to Derek (and his sons) for the meticulous and quick installation. At the end of the job, we headed out to the garage to bundle up any garbage and were pleasantly surprised to see that everything had already been picked up and taken away. Thank you to Peter, Vince and the team for a professional and effortless installation. I can hardly wait to tackle the other rooms in my home.
