Called Appliance Genie as our SubZero fridge was having issues. Prompt reply and booked tech to come for service later that day. Was given 2hr time slot, 2-4pm. Off to a good start but that was the last positive part of the experience unfortunately. Tech finally arrived at 6pm (after multiple follow ups), inspected fridge for 5min (took a couple of pictures and temperature reading). Went out to driveway and made a call, then came back in with a VISA machine to take $160 payment for the visit (he was at my home for less than 15min) and told me to expect an email with a quote in 24-48hrs. Next day received an email with a quote with very little details for $2500! Was also told they needed almost $1000 deposit to order parts which could be installed in 7-14 days. I called and requested a more detailed quote with a full breakdown of what was being repaired. While waiting for that and due to the cost and timeline, I felt it was important to get a second quote. Contacted another company who specializes in SubZero appliances Tech came at agreed time (9am the next morning) inspected, diagnosed and FIXED the refrigerator in less an hour. Refrigerator is back working 100% (even better than before!) and total cost of repair was 1/3 of the cost quoted by Appliance Genie. On top of that, when we provided details of Appliance Genie quote, SubZero specialist confirmed that what Appliance Genie had recommended to replace was not only not necessary, but would NOT have fixed the issue! We have since contacted Appliance Genie to provide our feedback and have asked for a refund of the $160 fee they charged us, but have not received a response from Management.
