The purpose of this review is to provide potential customers with both the positives and negatives that I have experienced with Global Solutions Inc. and to critique their professionalism. Overall I am happy with the end product and results, but less so with the installation experience and subsequent follow up. I will add updates if any issues arise in the future. Pros: George was very quick to reply and showed up promptly for the deposit/singing the contract, answered all the necessary questions. He was great at providing the new sliding door fast, even when other companies were telling us that we had to wait a month. His installers showed up on time/date provided by the company and responds fast to texts/calls.   Cons: As the old door was being removed, my family and I were watching the installers closely as there is stucco near the door. We wanted to make sure that they were being careful with this process, as repairing old stucco is complicated and expensive. The installer did not like being watched so we were rudely told in an aggressive manner that its not a tv show, so stop watching. I can understand the annoyance to have people watch you, however there is a better way of stating this to an individual, instead of being rude and aggressive. We walked away from the installers and let them do their job. I came for a check after some time and I noticed that the installers were wrapping up without installing a new wood trim. I brought this up to the installers and was told that it wont be installed as he was not told to do so. I called George to relay this concern, he told his installer to put the wood trim. After some back and forth, the installer was still refusing to do this and rudely asked me to show him the contract. After seeing the contract and confirming that wood trim needs to be installed, there was no acknowledgement by the installer of being wrong or a simple apology. Once the job was done, the installers came to ask for the remaining balance, without asking if I wanted to just check the door first. Not being well and having gone through a stressful situation earlier, I really just wanted them gone and thought to check the door later. Upon checking the door later, there were minor scratches left on the handle of the door and other parts of the frame (for which George later provided us with a spray can to cover), and the screen door was not closing smoothly, there was a track issue. I shared these concerns with George, and he agreed to come by to fix it himself. George came within a few days, and tried to fix the screen door, as he was doing this, he mentioned that he had never heard a customer complain about so many issues, for such a small job. I found these comments to be rude and unprofessional. Shortly after, George was heard speaking to the same installer on the phone, and he was jokingly mocking the situation and saying 'why didn't you say por favor...' followed by some laughter. After not being able to fix the screen door, George replaced it, however it still did not close smoothly. Overall: In cases like this it would be normal for an owner or manager of a company to be understanding and apologetic for the poor actions of their staff. I let him know that, had his staff executed the job properly before leaving, there would be no follow up calls and there would be no reason for me to complain. We were asked to wait for an installer to come by when they are in the area on April 27, 2022, and 45 days later, they completed the adjustment, which took them approximately five minutes to finish.

Company Response

Mrs. Shruti. Thank you for your review here in Homestars.
I would like to point out several things that you mentioned so I can let other customers know who red your review. This is George responding to your review.

1. You mentioned that installer answered you rudely.
Well installer told me several times that he did not say egressively anything to you and he appologiesed still after you guys were watching him. You guys were set in front of installers and watching him hole family including your parents. Non of the installer likes by the way been watched during a work. Myself also in anyways apologized to you for any inconvenience and when I was speaking with installer in front of you I did not laugh of course about you or about your door.

2. Would like to mention about trim installation. Like you mentioned after speaking with me installer installed trim. Simply installer was thinking about different job that he supposed to go after your job and there did not need trims, simply he thought it was different job. Trim was installed when he spoke with me right away. I don't see here much issue.

3. mrs Shruti you mentioned about myself that I answered you unproffessionally. I would not accept that because I said all true. a) it was very small job which actually is because we installed only one patio door 5 feet one and b) yes I never heard that many little concerns before from any customer. So if I say true that can not be unprofessional.

4. Thanks for good things that you wrote as well.

Overall:
I would like to mention to other readers following.
Customer has no any deficiency, job is completed.
Myself I was there to customers place 2 or 3 times when I heard complain and installer was 2 times as well in total.
Customer got her door installed very quick like in 2 weeks when that time was supply chain problems and Vista patio door that is great quality manufacturer would take 3-5 month for manufacturing that time but we used our stock door so we could install faster for customer.
After all these we are not happy to see that kind of review from customer but looks like can not make everybody 100% happy like we were always making before because this is first average/negative review for us. It was very good experience for us in anyways 🙂

Mrs Shruty again thanks for your business and sorry if there was any inconvinience. If any issue you will have in future please feel free to contact me directly. You have lifetime warranty for door and labor warranty as well.

Margis construction excavated the old interlocking in our backyard and built us a concrete walkway, patio, retaining wall and a pad for garbage bins. In the past we have had a few bad experiences with contractors leaving the job half way, or just executing the work inadequately. So, for a job this big we decided to use homestars, as the unbiased reviews and pictures are very helpful. We received quotes from about 25+ contractors, and in the end, we decided to go ahead with Tiago from Margis Construction. This decision was based upon the first meet, quality of work and the many positive reviews on homestars. We were initially interested in the patterned concrete finish (expensive option). Tiago was honest about its upkeep and he didn’t try to push this on us. Based on our lifestyle and needs, he advised us to go with the broom/smooth finish. In deciding which contractor to go with, it was important for us to see the previous work. We wanted to see how the concrete aged, and whether the portfolio provided online was in fact theirs. Tiago was quick in providing numerous addresses, where we were able to see the work in person (from distance). Once we decided to work with Tiago, he was very detailed about the expected next steps, the tentative start and finish date. Tiago’s team was friendly and approachable. They started work early in the morning and, always cleaned up before leaving for the day. If I brought any concerns along the way (there were a few), the team never ignored them, they addressed these concerns right away. After the completion of the work, we brought to Tiago’s attention, areas that needed some touch ups/rework, he took care of these right away. It’s now been over a month and even to this day if I have any concerns or questions, Tiago is always there. In the past we’ve had contractors completely vanish once the final payment was received. This has been a refreshing change. We are very happy with Tiago and the team, they started the work on time, with professionalism, and it was completed ahead of the scheduled date. On a personal level, Tiago has been very helpful to us, he has gone out of his way and helped us where there was zero personal or contractual obligation to do so. Tiago is not driven by greed or the size of the job as some of the contractors we had met, he is personable and very kind. There are many anxieties associated with having work done in your home, and having a contractor like Tiago, really made this experience stress free. We had met with larger (more years in the industry) companies, however due to the reasons stated above we took a chance on Margis construction and I couldn’t be happier If you’re deciding between contractors, try to really listen to the answers the contractor provides, do not simply hire someone based on the years they have been in the industry or their fluff words. If you ask to see their previous work in person, and they hessite in providing this, go with another. Do your research, ask all the questions, and go see the work in person. If there are any major changes to the concrete, I will update here.
