I'm doing a complete gut of a 100 year-old home that I recently purchased. My wife and I put down a deposit on 5" hardwood maple mill run flooring from a GTA retailer and set out to find an installer. I must have called 20 installers. Of those 20, only 1 took the time to ask what kind of wood we purchased, who the manufacturer was and what the house looked like - that installer was Max of NORD-OST. And I am thrilled that he did. It turns out the wood we bought was a prime candidate for warping/buckling (given that it is a 5" hardwood being installed in an old and tempermental home) and that the manufacturer's milling and overall product had deteriorated over the last 5 years. Max gave me some tips on good retailers and products and I set out to find a more suitable product. And he even suggested that we might want to go with a thinner wood (even if engineered) because our house is so narrow - a wider board would make the space seem smaller. When I spoke to a few more reputable wood retailers, they all verified what Max told me. It was at that point that I knew I had to go with Max for the installation. We were on a tight timeline for the install and Max worked from 7:30am until 11pm on a Saturday to get it done. He took lots of time before even laying a single board to make sure he understood the sightlines properly. My wife and I were thrilled with installation. It was immaculate. Max took the time to walk me through the finished product and told me to give him a call if I had any concerns. 2 days later I noticed a slight bump and creek in the floor and I called Max. He was there the next day to cut out and replace a few boards. it turns out the sub-floor had sifted slightly. So even though it had nothing to do with Max's install, he still showed right away and put in a few hours to fix the problem. What more can you ask for?! Thanks again Max for your excellent customer service and craftsmanship. I will not hesitate to recommened you to family and friends. And the next time I'm doing any work on my floors you're the only person I'll call. Cheers.
