We had a number of holes in the drywall of our basement and hired Ric to fix everything. He did an impeccable job repairing the drywall. He was fast, tidy and stayed on budget. I have used Ric for many jobs now and I will always call him back.

Reiner is the best contractor I have ever dealt with. We sought out three quotes to finish our basement. His quote was the most competitive and his designs made the best use of our space. His pricing is also very transparent. In under 8 weeks, he turned our basement into our favorite room in the whole house. He was on site almost every day to check on the progress being made, answered every phone call or email immediately, and had creative solutions for issues that came up in the process. In the end, he exceeded our expectations. Even the building inspector commented on his quality of work. Every tradesperson that works for him was knowledgeable, friendly, on time and expert at what they do. I wish Reiner would redo our whole house!

I had Joe and Andrew come to repair several issues in our house. They were always on time, knowledgeable, transparent and efficient. Booking through Tanya is very easy and the pricing is very fair. I will be using Caldwell for all our plumbing needs.

We inherited a really old tankless water heater that was problematic from the day we moved into our home. We called various contractors to repair our issues, each one more clueless than the last. Finally we found Richard. I vaguely described the issue to him over the phone and right away he knew what part he needed. He arrived the next day ready and repaired our issue on the spot at a very reasonable rate. We used him every year after to keep our old tank running as long as possible. He's quick to respond to our service calls, transparent in pricing, and expert at repairing our problems. When the water heater finally gave out (years past what was expected because of his continuous care), we had Richard replace it with a new model last year that we are very happy with. I highly recommend Richard for all tankless water heater repairs. We call him the boiler whisperer in our neighborhood.

Our interior designer recommended Hugh to install pot lights, rewire and move existing fixtures, conceal our home theatre cables behind a wall, and mount our new TV. Of all the contractors we have ever dealt with during our home reno, Hugh was our favorite. He was always on time, professional, courteous and tidy. The pot light installation was perfect and all other work was completed with care and precision. What I couldn't believe was how clean our home was when he finished, even though he was patching up drywall and sanding. He always treated my home like it was his own. A year later, we had water leaking from our roof that was exiting through a fire alarm device. Hugh came out the next day to inspect the electrical and make sure everything was safe. He didn't even charge us for the visit! We have been very happy with Hugh's responsiveness, attention to detail, professionalism and honesty. I will only ever recommend Hugh for all things electrical!

I am so grateful to Ricardo! He managed to fix about a years worth of home repair issues in under 5 hours. He did everything from plumbing, to electrical, to installing very tricky ceiling fans with no issues. Booking an appointment was very easy through Claudia - she managed to accommodate my schedule and Ricardo was at our home in just a couple of days. Ricardo arrived right on time, ran through the list of projects with me and was quick to get to work. After a few hours at our house, I started to remember other small jobs that he could help with and he fit them in during the same visit. He even went out on his own lunch break to get some parts that were needed for my last minute job requests. Ric was very professional, tidy, conscientious and honest about the scope of the work. I was amazed at how low my invoice was at the end of his work day. I'm already putting together a list of things we need Ric to fix in the Fall and am looking forward to working with Silver Lining Handywork again! FYI - he is capable of much more than just household repairs and we will be using him for larger home renovations in the near future.

I never thought I could have such a pleasant experience with duct cleaning. Our dryer ducts were clogged and causing the fire alarm to go off from the high levels of humidity. We thought we might as well have the ducts to the whole house cleaned out too since they never have been. We hired Dave's Duct cleaning for both services. The two gentleman assigned to us arrived on time and started with the dryer. Our home has a very odd duct system and the guys had challenges ahead of them, including getting onto our third story roof in the winter to clean out the vents. A typical job would take them less than an hour, but because of the complications with our system, it took them two. They never complained, they explained everything they were doing as they did it, and even did a minor repair along the way free of charge that involved having to drive to our local home depot. We are so grateful to them, because other companies would have doubled the fee because of the added work and risk. Then when it came time to clean out the ducts, they discovered we had a high velocity system which doesn't involve the same amount of work on their part, so they did a quick clean up, showed us the before and after photos, and didn't even charge us for it! I have never dealt with such honest and conscientious contractors before. I absolutely recommend Dave's Duct Cleaning to anyone who needs this service.

I had a fantastic experience working with Karin and her crew. They were hired to paint our three story home, which has a few challenges including 20 foot high walls. Her quote was very reasonable, she was always quick to respond to my emails, and she had no problem dealing with our many requests (we painted every room a different color). Karin estimated our home would take one full week to paint, but they ended up finishing in just three days. This was no rush job - she has a crew full of perfectionists. I couldn't find a single blemish anywhere. They were very respectful of our home, and left the house clean when they were done. 6 months after the job was complete, we did some renovations to our fireplace which resulted in drywall repair on one main wall. I assumed the entire wall would have to be re-painted, but Jefferson managed to touch it up so perfectly that you couldn't tell the difference between the new and old painted surfaces. This also saved us a small chunk of money. Painting your house can be stressful and tiring, but Karin made it as easy as possible and I would recommend her to everyone.

We had a leak under the kitchen sink and needed to replace the faucet. Waterworks sent Cory right away. Cory was punctual, professional, friendly, and patient. Not only did he finish the job in under an hour, but he took the time to show us what he did, how he did it, and gave us tips on how to re-mediate future problems. We will definitely be calling Waterworks again for future problems and requesting Cory's service.

James came himself and provided a 3-hour thorough inspection of our new home. He found both big problems and small, which helped us to negotiate down the price of our house. James took us through every room, explaining what he was observing and why they were areas of concern. He also gave us many tips on how to maintain our property since this was our first house. He provides a massive binder at the end with detailed notes of his inspection, video of the roof and attic, and a yearly checklist on house maintenance. I highly recommend Canspec and will use them when we purchase our next home.

My first experience with a snow removal company was with the most popular company in Toronto (I won't name them,; but it's easy to figure out who they are), and they disappointed me in every way. They made promises that they never fulfilled and charged me bucketloads for it. Last year I went looking for a new company and found The Snowmen. These guys made the same promises, but actually fulfilled them and more! They were always at our home within a few hours of snow fall, they always came back to get any left over piles created by the snow plows on the street, and would even come to put salt on our driveway if it had just rained! I could always reach them easily, and they would often follow up with me just to make sure I was happy with their service. Their rates are reasonable and worth it because they are so dependable. I highly recommend the snowmen for all your snow removal needs!

These are the best movers in Ontario. We were moving from a condo to a house. Julio, Javier and Paul were running just five minutes late to the condo, but called in advance to let me know - very considerate. When they arrived, they didn't know that the condo didn't have an elevator, and the move would involve them going up and down four flights of stairs for every box. They didn't complain - they just got to work. On the other side, they faced some obstacles because the design of our house makes taking furniture upstairs tricky. Still - no complaints. Even when I told them they didn't have to move some things, and that I would move them later, they replied with "no ma'am, it's our job, tell us what we can do to help." What movers are like that?! They took the greatest care with our belongings in both homes. By the end of the move, there was not a single scratch on any piece of furniture or wall in either home. They were incredibly kind, patient and hardworking. They are worth every single penny, and I highly recommend them over any other service. They also come out cheaper than many of their other competitors also listed on homestars (I called and spoke to 6 services before deciding to go with Rent-a-son based on their price and professionalism). By the next day, I had the invoice in my hands with no hidden fees - it was bang on the estimate (Dustin - the president, is gifted for calculating ahead of time what he thinks the move will cost you). Rent-a-son is exceptional in every way. They will be our movers for life.
