- On Jan 7th, we contacted Sudan Movers. Their representative Gagan at phone number 437-335-8506 said on the phone that to finalize the quote, we should provide the details of the move by email and provide a deposit of $50.
- Jan 13th, Gagan followed up with us and we let him know that we will proceed with their service. We let him know on text that we will start the move on Jan 27th at Noon. He asked for deposit.
- Jan 16th - We emailed with the details saying the start of the move should be at Noon and the drop off address has an elevator booked for 2-4pm. Deposit was paid. We asked for confirmation of email.
There was no email response whatsoever.
Instead the same person texted us to ask for a deposit again. Therefore we replied to the text and confirmed they received the deposit.
- A person (who we think it's Gagan) asked on text again what time we should come - And we replied by letting him know it starts at NOON. We also emphasized that we sent him an email.
- Jan 18th - we received repeated Homestar communication from Sudan Movers. Therefore we contacted them by text to ensure they received the email. The person replied that "is it Wandy? We booked you for 30th of January).
We immediately replied that the move should be JAN 27th at NOON.
- the person reassured us on text that he received the information and 'everything is good'.
- Jan 26th - ONE DAY BEFORE THE MOVE, we texted and emailed to confirm the move early in the morning. Then there was NO RESPONSE for an entire day. We started to panic. We called the phone number and it sounded disconnected since there's not even a voicemail to leave messages. We checked the website for Sudan Movers and it directs it to another moving company. Our conclusion is that the company went under.
That's when we decided we need a plan B. We contacted Lets Get Moving and the company helped us to move within one day notice.
- Jan 27th - MOVING DAY:
Lets Get Moving has professional staff, arrived on time at NOON and was very professional. They packed and moved everything out of our old house within 1.5 hours and was ready for the destination with the elevator booking of 2pm.
Suddenly at 1:30pm I received a call from guy informing me that they are arriving at our old house to arrive for 2pm. It turns out it was Sudan Movers people.
I told him forget it. The move was completed. I demanded for our deposit to be returned. They clearly did not show up for the right time for the move. He said he's not the manager and I asked to speak with his manager. Instead I started receiving emails. A person told me on email that we're not entitled for the deposit to be returned because we stated the move starts at 2pm. I told them that if they read their emails properly this would not have been an issue. This is in addition to the chain of texts explicitly telling them the move starts at NOON.
The incompetency is unbearable. Sudan Movers is a sham.
