Doubled payment after term renewal

This company lured me with low payments and utility savings, but now they're hitting me with an outrageous interest rate increase. How can a company justify an interest rate jump from 2.99% to 11.95% after promising affordable payments and savings? Is this even legit? Did anyone able to sue them?
