Ace Fence

We were truly disappointed with the poor quality work and even more disappointed with Zed's response to our concerns. From the time the rear fence was installed, the fence was leaning, not straight and had poor quality finishes. To start, they reduced our property line by over a foot because they were lazy to remove old cement from previous posts or cut steel bolts adhered to the retaining wall. We paid half upfront in good faith only to then wait four months for them to finally do a shoddy job of installing the entire fence in less than half a day. In the first photo, the top of the fence doesn't line up at the corner. In the second photo, none of the boards were put on straight and if you look closely this is common all along the fence. The third photo shows how they finished the end covering an old retaining wall. (This was their second attempt on this section and they truly thought it was a satisfactory finish, unbelievable! Zed said, and I quote, "You will never get a contractor in Hamilton to do a better job.") The fourth and fifth photos show the fence leaning and everything but straight. Zed's excuse for this is that the retaining wall was falling over...clearly in the Six photo the retaining wall at the rear of the fence is as straight as a die and constructed extrememly well. Even after we had an Engineer inspect it and say it was improperly installed, Zed (who I believe is the owner), would not repair it. We asked Zed to fix and straighten the fence but he was adamant that he had followed code and had installed the fence properly and to my specifications. Subsequently, we hired another contractor who laughed at the poor quality and did an exceptional job of fixing all the poor workmanship at an additional expense to us. All the photos speak volumes about the incompetence and poor workmanship from Ace Fencing. But this review also clarifies that the company is claiming that their work is the best in Hamilton, providing the best possible work that could have been done under the circumstances. You don't need a construction background to understand that this company is truly taking advantage of the marketplace that is desperately in need of service. I have worked with thousands of contractors in both Canada and the USA and by far Ace Fencing led by Zed is the most incompetent I have run into yet. It is difficult to get good contractors these days but stay far away from Ace Fencing as they are filling a need by providing a service that they absolutely do not have the skills or workmanship to deliver. Clearly the photos say it all, the last three photos just show again the poor quality construction where they have cracked several boards with hap-hazard board fastening!
