Legal Basement Bowmanville

2 year old home legal basement.

Paid first deposit, took a very long time to start. The framing was done poorly, and contractor did not supervisor the subcontractors as a result the basement window was cut in the incorrect location. Many issue with electrical and HVAC, they missed many outlets and potlights. Om, the owner was unable to pass a single city inspection. The job was left incomplete and, he took our money.

Approximate cost of services:
$60.00

Company Response

Reality is very different from what this customer has described. There was an error in pricing and cost of additional windows was not counted in estimate or agreement but the work was done. When we found this error it was informed to the customer and initially they agreed to revise the price.

However later on they changed their mind and decided to not pay us for the extra work we had already done. They stopped our subcontractors from entering the house and started accusing him of stealing material, calling police etc, while in reality we were the one who brought all the material and we usually brought extra material than needed, so there was no scenario of stealing anything.

When we asked for a meeting with a customer to resolve this situation, they again refused to meet us and instead asked us to do a conference call with the subcontractor which we obliged. However, even on the call they were constantly abusing and using uncivilized language for us and the subcontractor, without trying to resolve the situation or talking about any actual issues. We were willing to complete the job but the customer did not let us do that.

There was no inspection failed. Window inspection was passed and the framing inspector asked us to make minor changes which are very usual in all inspections and were to be inspected in the next visit. However this customer did not let us reach that stage and stopped our subcontractors from entering the job-site and fixing issues.

We suspect the customer found a cheaper contractor and was trying to get out of our agreement and also get a refund for that. However as per our contract until we are unable to continue the work, we were not responsible to issue any refund of money already spent by us. Now customer is using false allegations to malign us which is totally inappropriate.

Full House Renovation

They did full house renovation for my newly purchased house and I was happy the work of their team. They could have done better in terms of managing time lines as the work was delayed by two weeks but except that everything was fine.

Poor Performance

Due to high incompetence, this contractor could not even get me a valid permit to start construction. He hired an equally incompetent architect who submitted a defective design to the City of Ajax. The contractor was paid in advance according to his own estimate but he walked away from the project against the signed agreement.

Company Response

This customer’s claims are totally false and fraudulent. He refused to pay required deposit to the city and was forcing us to pay that amount which was clearly not part of the contract. We had no option but to walk out, which we did after re-paying our initial deposit back to the customer which he took immediately and now posting fake reviews. Architect also had to walk out of this work for similar reasons.
