Our water heater was making a noise. Tech Ethan knew what was going on without even looking. He said that low rumbling noise is an indication that sediment has built up on the bottom of the water heater. Ethan checked the tank, and he was right. He explained that excessive buildup of sediment in the bottom of the tank is causing the tank to overheat and water to boil. And rumbling is a result of boiling water trapped in the sediment.
