My 17-year-old cedar deck badly needed repairs. Rather than a traditional railing, my deck had planters and benches surrounding the deck which needed to be replaced. None of the contractors I contacted wanted to repair the deck; thay all wanted to tear it down and build a new one for $30,000 plus. Kerry from Mjolinir Construction in Ottawa came and assessed the deck and determined the planters and benches could be replaced for about 1/5 of the price and the work could be done in 2 days. I was in no hurry so he scheduled my project for the fall. Then things changed and we were planning to host a major social event which would include about 40 people. I contacted Kerry and he agreed to shoe-horn in my project into his already busy summer schedule. A week before our event, Ian arrived at the house and started tearing down the damaged section of the deck and started hauling it away. Then he turned his attention to making the necessary repairs. The finished product was outstanding and reflected a very high quality and professional workmanship. I couldn't be happier with the result. Ian was a true craftsman, courteous and attentive to detail. He did a superior job and delievered on time and on budget. I would have no hestitation in recommending Mjolinir Construction to anyone seeking to pursue an outdoor project beit decks, fences or railings.

Kerry from Mjolnir Construction helped me design my deck in the spring of 2022 and constructed the deck in Oct 2022. When selecting the decking material Kerry recommended the using AZEK Harvest Collection material as it does not heat up like most decking material. Last weekend when we received direct sun and high 20s temperatures I discovered how great this decking material is. The deck was warm but definitely not hot and it was comfortable walking around on the deck in bare feet. Well worth the upgrade in my mind.

We were already very satisfied with the work done by Kerry's team in building the deck but now have one more reason to be happy. Would definitely recommend Mjolnir construction to anyone looking for a deck.

Received quick accurate quote that beat others, after short site visit. Kept updated by Kerry due to changing COVID restrictions weekly.
When able to complete job, quickly made hand built fence section by himself (40 ft) in one day after letting concrete set overnight with new posts (2 days total time).
Work site kept clean throughout and after job, minimal disruptions/noise.
Fast, accurate and receptive to customer requests.

I contracted Kerry to install the railing on the front porch of my house in Toronto a few years ago. The job was done on time at a reasonable cost and the final result looked fantastic. It was evident to me that Kerry is a craftsman that takes his work very seriously. I was especially impressed by all the detailed finishing touches he put on the railing, including colour matching caulk over potentially sharp areas where two pieces of metal railing fit together. I had 3 small children at the time so the unprompted extra effort he made with respect to safety was very much appreciated.
