I bought a top tier Goodman modulating furnace through the Christmas Bureau auction, provided by Legacy. I had to do research on this furnace, due to its Comfortbridge technology which communicates internally with no need for a proprietary communicating thermostat. The two thermostats that were offered with the furnace package were the Nest and the Ecobee Pro, which the manager at Legacy said he uses with his Goodman modulating furnace. I contacted Ecobee directly and they said the Pro would not be able to control the temperature effectively and the manual from Goodman states their communicating thermostat should be used with this furnace. I managed to track one down and brought this to the managers attention, he said this would be an extra charge to install, and I agreed. I spent quite a bit of time, talking to different companies about this furnace and thermostats because we have a Carrier furnace with a communicating thermostat and I love the functionality of it. Anyways, I recently contacted Legacy about having a heat pump or AC unit installed with the furnace and the manager opted to give my money back instead. I cant believe that a company would rather lose money than understand a customers need to know more about what they are paying for.
