Heritage Design

9 years ago I had Heritage build a 16 x 14 composite deck. At that time I did my due diligence, reviewed Heritage and some of their recent installations. The reviews of the company were fantastic, as a trusted builder I went with their recommended composite decking to be used. Fast forward 9 years, the composite decking is failing horribly. I had their representative in to quote the replacement of only the deck boards. I am reasonable, I did offer to pay the difference for an upgraded product and some of the labour. Much to my surprise, it took over 4 weeks for him to come back with a $26k replacement quote! Following is the text from his quote: “Hi folks, Please see the attached estimate to resurface the deck and steps. This estimate is for Azek 'Vintage' collection, polymer decking. The issues with your current decking is a manufacturer warranty issue and not a Heritage Design installation issue. As such, we cannot cover any part of the replacement of this decking.” I will not be proceeding with Heritage. They have offered absolutely terrible customer service. If you are looking for a company to take your money and abandon the product that they installed, then Heritage is your company.

Heritage Design designed and installed our deck in July 2017. The floorboards developed a very loud, annoying creak in the first year and we have been calling and emailing to request a fix for the last 3 years but they just ignore us. This year I sent them a video with sound so they could hear how loud it was but no response! They may design lovely looking decks but they do not respond to repair requests, despite their 5 year warranty.

We retained the services of Heritage Design through the referral of our neighbours as we saw that they did a good job with their deck. Although there was a long waitlist with Heritage for building our deck, we think it was totally worth the wait. (Other neighbours who got decks before us had issues with their contractors either not finishing the job in a timely fashion, or had decks built that weren't quite to code....). They finished the job efficiently, everything was done as requested. For example, due to our long flight of stairs, we noticed that they bounced a lot - we indicated this to Heritage and they made no qualms to come back and rectify the issue within a reasonable time frame.

The only minor "hiccup" came a year later, when one of our neighbours noticed one of the supports looked significantly bowed (which we understand wood can naturally warp and bend). After stopping by to take a quick look, Steve was also rather surprised that the wood bowed that much, and didn't hesitate to let us know that Heritage will replace the bowed support. It was VERY refreshing to see a contractor who will take a client's perspective and treat the project as if it were his own deck. Their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is definitely on point, and we would definitely retain Heritage's services again for our next deck/patio/fence project. I will make sure to post an update after the replacement support is in! :)

They gave me great service, a very reasonable price and did the work flawlessly without me having to do much following up or leg work.

I needed them to come in and complete an existing rod iron fence to enclose the backyard of our newly purchased house. I didn't live in the area at the time so I just called them and asked them if they could do it. I met them once at the house, went over a few details and they did all the rest on time. It was very easy to deal with them and would recommend them.
