The leaking has been going on for much much longer, it is evident by all the poorly placed caulking that was placed before we did anything on the roofing replacement.
We have bern doing this for over 30 years and this issue has absolutely zero to do woth any re-roofing work that would be done by any company. The leaking has zero to do with a new roof. Your opinion is pointless on this matter.
The only way to determine what the true source of this long standing leak was to explore, we did this and as you work removing shingles you start discovering the issue has zero to do with the reroof, then to determine what the porblem is, which is what you requested, we kept exploring……alas we determined that the issue surely is an original build problem, as much as you may dispute this, we are the professionals not you.
Chris called me when this was determined and we came up with three plans, one is that all four of the pillars be taken apart and siding removed and flashed properly or we do just the one we opened up and caulk the others or put it back together and caulk the heck out of it, our recommendation was the first to solve this issue once and for all, you chose the middle one. We advise against this but you insisted this was your choice, we said that this choice leaves you with zero warranty if these leaks continue.
We estimated the cost to be $3000-$4000 minimum including labor and material and due to the age there may be siding that is brittle and if replacement of a certain amount is needed it will likely not math the faded existing.this was agreed upon by you and Chris.
I am not sure where you think that in the exploration of what the real issue is that has caused these long standing leaks you think that the vinyl or metal siding, that is always the cheapest used by builders, was not going to be subject to some minor damages, this is quite the stretch of reality.
The original warranty is still going to be honored as far as the manufacturers portion and our workmanship but will not include anything regarding this non roofing issues we have discussed. As for any further repairs we will not be interested in taking part in the remedy, I suggest calling a builder contractor as this is not a roofing issue.
We went above and beyond our responsibility and it is evident you do not have any appreciation for this so we will leave matters as they are and should you decide to further pursue this I can only wish you the best of luck.
Regards,
Brad
