McDonald Forestry was recommended to us by a neighbour that used them and was very pleased with their work. We have two pear trees in our backyard that had grown much too tall and wide and were in desperate need to a serious pruning. The trees also produced no fruit this year and have some kind of leaf disease. McDonald Forestry sent their fruit tree expert who knew exactly what to do. They explained what the disease was and the cause of no fruit. They pruned the trees perfectly and cleaned up everything. It made a huge difference as the backyard looks great now. Thanks guys!

His crew did a great job on the tree and in cleanup, my neighbour was impressed he hired Steve's company on the spot to take care of his tree care needs. We both saved over 20% compared to other quotes.

Steve responded to my call very promptly and provided me with his expert advice about the trees on my property. His crew, Ian and Drew also did a very good job, carefully removing one spruce and pruning 2 trees. They also removed a crazy growing elm bush for free. They cleaned up nicely before leaving. I have used McDonald Forestry twice now for the removal of tree limbs on my property. They were large and small limbs hanging over our roof, driveway and deck.

I had McDonald Forestry trim the cedar hedge in my backyard last year and they did a great job so I called them again this year. The hedge is about 16' high and is up against our flower garden so I needed someone to trim the hedge but no trample the flowers or leave a mess. I was once again very pleased that Steve did the job with no damage to the flowers and left no clippings in the garden. We've received many compliments on our hedge as it is full, healthy and looks great. Steve's a nice guy and very considerate about your needs and property. He delivers consistent quality work and is very reliable. Over the years, and prior to using McDonald Forestry, I had tried a few other tree service companies but one never showed and the others did the job but the top was cut a bit uneven and they cut too deep and left holes. My advice - call McDonald Forestry first as they price competitively and do a much better job. Thanks Steve!

Steve and Tyler came out on a holiday to remove an exceptionally large horizontal branch (over 20" diameter) from a silver maple in my back yard which was not easily accessible.
As a landscape architect, I can attest to their professional approach to tree care. I felt confident with them looking after our tree and understanding my concerns about the form of the tree. Their cleanup was excellent and they put on an excellent show for all the neighbours.
I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for tree care at a competitive price.

Exceptional service re the 1st half of the job (they were paid in full 2 days after completing the job)- they showed up on time (to provide an estimate and then on the 2 days set aside to remove the trees), they matched price of competitors and they did a nice job cleaning up afterwards. But since that time they havent returned the 20 or so emails and at least 5 voicemails that we have sent them re the 2nd half of the tree removal job (related to a tree which required an additional permit) so now we have to hire another service. In fact, we had assumed, because of their non-responsiveness, that they were no longer in service

We had McDonald Forestry remove a tree from our garden. They dealt with all the paper work to file for a permit and as soon as the permit was approved they were around to take down the tree.

The work was completed very efficienty and they the clean up was excellent too. I would highly recommend their services.

I have four 25 year old fruit trees that had grown out of control and which needed to be trimmed back badly.

I stumbled on the Home Stars website and started to read the reviews for McDonald Forestry. I sent an email and a phone call was returned same day and an appointment made for the following day for a quote.

I was impressed with the knowledge that Steven had about the trees and especially about his awareness of the local municipal by laws for the trees. We discussed what I wanted and he said he would send me a quote that evening.

I was disappointed in the fact that I had to email him 36 hours later asking if he had sent the quote and I had missed it. I guess I should have been more patient but I was anxious about the job to be done. The quote appeared in moments and was dated earlier so am not sure exactly what happened.

In any event, we booked for a couple of working days later and I am very satisfied with the job. Thanks to Tyler for doing such a good job of cutting the trees down to the 6 to 7 ft range from about 25 to 30 ft and for shaping them so well. I understand that you have expertise working in orchards which was evident by the way you kept walking around the trees to shape them. Also, thanks for making sure no branches were hanging over the adjoining 3 neighbour’s fences.

A special thanks to the whole team for the great clean up job. There wasn’t a twig left on the property. I would recommend this company for their knowledge, efficiency , professionalism and overall good customer service.

I had to remove a 3 huge branches from over the pool, plus a few small ones. I must say that Steve and his crew are a real team of professionals in what they do. They came and they were really careful not to damage the pool. The work was done in a timely manner and they cleaned neatly after they finished. The price and the work done were amazing.
