Full Home Reno - Integrity and Quality Workmanship

In 2015 Alan took on the general contractor role as well as performed most of the work for a full renovation of an original condition semi in Toronto. It was a big job:
- complete demo back to the bricks
- complete electrical (sub out)
- complete plumbing (partial sub)
- redo of all walls and ceilings and insulation and doors and stairs, etc...
- structural work to strength rafters and floor joist (no squeaks!)
- new kitchen and bathroom and floors and drywall and windows
- paint (partial sub)

Alan brings a lot to the table. He has the skills to do the work and the management capability to organize the overall project, sub trades and source material. He holds himself and his crew to a high standard of workmanship. He has the network to find decent sub trades, and when one (painter) no-showed he stepped up and it was resolved.
The job was fairly and accurately quoted at the start. The only cost escalation was due to legitimate discovery work, or scope additions that I requested, and these were reasonably quoted.
In addition, he has an excellent eye for design and aesthetic. Numerous suggestions of his, both large and small, were directly incorporated into the project.
After completion, one defect occurred (minimal considering the scale of the project), and it was resolved quickly and without extra cost.
In the wrong hands this kind of a project can easily turn into a nightmare. However, Alan is a pro and I never lost confidence or questioned his judgement or workmanship.
Well done!

Post major reno there have been numerous small and medium jobs too. All well executed.
And he has done work with other family and friends.

A Man Of Many Talents

I was lucky enough to find Alan about 8 years and two houses ago. At the first house he built us a beautiful deck off our third story bedroom. He was very collaborative, happy to hear my ideas and made a lot of excellent recommendations and created a beautiful outdoor space for us.
At our next house he did A LOT of work:
- levelled out our crooked house and floors
- enclosed a front porch to be part of our indoor space (front foyer)
- tiled our foyer floor, kitchen backsplash and entire bathroom
- installed beams on our main floor ceilings
- built a functional and beautiful custom cabinet to fit around the washer and dryer which was in our kitchen (so it looked like part of the kitchen - in the photos of the kitchen, the cabinet is on the opposite side of the room as the fridge and stove, it fits right in)
- installed doors (regular doors as well as a barn door with track)
- installed baseboards and trim throughout
- built a beautiful custom desktop.
He also did some minor plumbing and electrical and would pop by for smaller jobs like putting up light fixtures and house numbers which was amazing because it's so difficult to find people willing to take smaller jobs on.
Alan is extremely reliable, reasonably priced, detail oriented, collaborative and a wonderful person. If I could give him more stars I would. Please have a look at the photos of all his wonderful work.
***I listed the price as $100+ because I couldn't submit my review without a price. As you see I've listed A LOT of things and obviously the cost for each job varies. But as I said, he's very reasonably priced.

Kitchen renovation and bathroom cleaning

My wife and I just completed a kitchen renovation (installation of new cabinetry and countertops, painting, backsplash) and bathroom updating (painting, repair of drywall, cleaning) with Alan and his team at Zabuloo Wood Works.

Alan was a complete professional throughout the entire process. He met with us early, and on multiple occasions, to review ideas and options based on our budget and provided us with clear to understand quotes for costs of work. Alan worked with us to finalize work options based on our budget and timing needs. The work was completed 100% on budget and on time (exactly 2-weeks) and we couldn't be happier with the finished product and final results.

Alan arrived to our home every day on time and took great care to ensure our home remained as clean as possible throughout the renovation process. Alan communicated clearly about the work that was done on a given day and what we could expect for the days ahead.

We don't have too much experience with home renovations, but we cannot imagine having an easier time going through this process than we just did with Alan and his team. He is highly recommended and we hope to work with him again on future projects. You will not regret choosing Alan and Zabuloo Wood Works!
