Porch Paver Steps replaced

I wanted to share my experience with Five Star GTA Interlocking and Mazdak, the owner. I wanted four paver stones on the porch steps (which were chipped) and a rock replaced. Mazdak told me this was an all day job. We signed the contract mid- June 2023. When Mazdak arrived on a Saturday morning agreed upon with an employee, it ended up taking about 2 hours to finish the job and not the whole day as initially indicated. Mazdak told me that the pavers would be new and as such would be a slightly different colour from the current ones. When the job was done, I noticed that the new paver stones had white marks all over them. I thought that would be restored with the rain and washing, so I did not say anything. However they were never restored with rain and washing.

I am straying from this for a bit as I want to cover what happened next. I e-transfered Mazdak the final payment when he was finished the work. He told me I was $2.26 short and when I asked him for the calculation he did not respond. One month later after many attempts for a response from me, he finally responded and said I was correct and sent me the invoice.

As I had Mazdaks attention, I asked him about the discolouration, he said it was efflorescence and that a certain company offers a cleaner to get rid of the efflorescence. We asked him to purchase the product and apply it. Eventually, 2 months later, he said he would drop it off at our place. After numerous attempts to find out when the eflo cleaner would be dropped off, Mazdak stopped responding and I am writing this review. This has been a very long drawn out process which took much more of my time and energy for a small job than I anticipated it would originally take.

Approximate cost of services:
$1,325.00

Company Response

Eflorence is not covered under our warranty as the client can see on the contract she signed. Trying to bring her a free bottle of eflo cleaner instead of charging for the bottle plus for time and travel was us just trying to do a favor out of good faith. The client was also there on site when we installed these copings for the steps and paid in full on site in person - she approved the work and paid the bill.
