Incompetent and Unprofessional
I hired Mr. Collins of Collins General Contracting or Collins Contracting to complete front of house renovations, demolishing an existing porch, excavating, new footings, foundation, concrete porch and steps, waterproofing, new window cut outs and masonry work. I provided him with a large deposit of $5000 months before the work started. The work was supposed to commence end of July. When he finally started(prior to starting) he asked for a 50% deposit which was unexpected. I provided an additional $5000. Week 1 went by and he came for a few hours to block up the old cold storage room door, and did it incorrectly. He came back a week later and didn't have the proper tools to demolish the porch, his staff also didn't show up. However, the first thing I asked him to complete was the window cut outs so that my framers can finish inside, I can Drywall and sprayfoam. I said this several times to him. He finally started doing the masonry work but left it in disarray. After 5 weeks of coming sporadically and for only a few hours at a time and failing inspections I had to call him out on the not only delays but quality of work. He didn't follow and good best practices nor did he follow the engineer permits shop drawings. I'm not an expert but even I noticed deficiencies. I asked a few other experts that came out of the goodness of their hearts and advised it was a mess.
