[Commercial] Accessible Washroom, Additional Floor Drain, LVL Support Beams
We hired SW Construction for our small commercial reno on February 9th. From the very beginning, promises were made to commence work at 8am and wrap up by 4pm, as our business was to remain open to the public. Most days workers did not arrive until 10am, sometimes even as late as noon; this greatly reduced amount of work completed each day. Due to a severe lack of project management experience, this project was "completed" a month behind schedule. Until now, our accessible washroom does not have a grab bar because the last time they showed up they did not have the right hardware to complete the installation.
The quality of work varied as a number of different general labourers and subcontractors (3 different plumbers) were used throughout the project. All of the floors they installed were done poorly, glue stains remain on the newly installed vinyl tiles, and the washroom tiles are unlevel and unevenly spaced.
When it came to making payments, we were always on time, yet they made multiple attempts to rush us into making the final payment before the project was completed. This made us feel uncomfortable considering the number of delays we had already incurred because of them. They reassured us that they would not leave us in the dust based on their one-year warranty, yet the project due date was March 15th and we still do not have a complete accessible washroom.
Over the course of the renovation we ordered a ductless heating/cooling unit through them for $4000 and they promised to deliver the unit on Wednesday, April 18. When the time came to deliver the unit, they blamed the recent weather conditions had put them behind schedule on their other projects. We offered to pick up the unit to save them the trip, but they have been ignoring our communications since.
