We recently hired Capable Group to completely finish our basement of our 32 year old house from scratch. Our basement is now spectacular and functional and we couldn’t love it more. We are very happy with Capable, and highly recommend them for their top-notch customer service and quality product. Us having interviewed 12 other contractors not only did Capable offer a competitive price but we were mostly impressed with Yan’s professionalism, knowledge and honest feedback. He provided and adhered to a contract with a clear and detailed account of every aspect of the job; no surprises along the way. Our vision for our basement was somewhat more intricate than the typical clear cut finished basement. Capable Group achieved this for us beyond our expectations. Ludmila’s designing expertise shone brightly through her awesome layout which resulted in quality, functionality and style. Ludmila was sensitive to our needs and always there for us. She listened carefully to our concerns and always zeroed in on the perfect suggestion. The labour team from the framer to the painter to the handy man all delivered skillful and scrupulous workmanship. Under the very professional and meticulous supervision of Arthur they all demonstrated commitment, hard work and always a positive attitude. They were friendly and polite and handled the task in a neat and well organized fashion. Overall everyone did their job in an ongoing responsible, accurate and attentive manner. Capable handed over the finished product immaculately cleaned and ready for us to enjoy, and within the established time frame. The Capable Team are truly the best. After interviewing and receiving quotes from about 6 other companies (many of which I had to chase), Amar from the sales team gave us an on-the-spot, guaranteed quote - which included a set timeline (not to mention beating the other prices). I have to admit, I was skeptical they could do it in the time quoted - and had others cast doubt - but the team followed through - on time, on budget - even a day early. There were no surprises - no nonsense - no hidden costs. The entire team of skilled trades, the project manager (Mike), the designer (Ludmila) and the owner (Yan) are professional, knowledgeable and very responsive. The quality of the work surpassed our expectations and regular site visits were had to ensure we were satisfied at all stages of the build. Having a designer and project manager included was a major differentiator, and made the process much easier on us. Our house was built in 1926, and had a number of challenges to overcome with narrow stair cases, low ceilings and uneven floors. The team worked to overcome all of the hurdles and even managed to get a 67"/200 lb tub down the stairs for us (when others told us it was impossible). We had a full basement apartment, with two bedrooms a kitchen and a large unfinished space with the furnace and water heater. We also had a second set of stairs that led down to the basement from the laundry room. Capable gutted the entire thing, opened it up and removed the 2nd stair set. We worked with Ludmilla, their designer to choose materials and colours as well as a layout. The entire process was great. The crew was really friendly and efficient, Ludmilla was a joy to work with. Micheal, the site manager, gave us regular updates and provided cost adjustments as the inevitable changes occurred.

Communication was really good and the finished basement looks great! Everything came in at roughly what we were quoted, with some additions we asked for.

After hearing many basement reno horror stories, we went into the project very carefully. But the professionalism of Capable was apparent from the beginning. Yan, Mike, Mila and the Alex's ran the project like a military campaign, with substantial completion done 5 weeks to the day that the material arrived at our door (including building inspections). Mila provided some good suggestions on the design that we hadn't considered and the team was flexible to last minute changes that we came up with as the project progressed. I never heard "we can't do that". Thanks Capable Team!

The job was done on time. Mike the project Manager was very organized and professional. All trade workers were excellent and took pride in their work. Ludmilla the designer was very patient and helpful with all requests. Yan was very understanding, easy to work with and quickly solved any issues that occurred. If you need your basement renovated, look no where else, Capable Group is the company for you. You will not be disappointed. We were very happy and love our new basement. We definitely rate them 11 out of 10.

After deciding to finish our basement, we obtained a number of quotes from different contractors, including Yan, who provided a very competitive quote for the job. While not the absolute lowest quote, it was fully detailed which gave us more confidence in their ability to finish the job without unforeseen change orders, and the design process involving Ludmila was a real value add for us.

Ludmila was fantastic and came out to do full measurements of the basement and provided good advice as to layout in order to maximize our usable space and the 2D plans and 3D layouts allowed us to visualize the final space and make a few changes prior to construction.

Once the job began, Michael was our project manager and he was also very professional, keeping us informed of progress and upcoming schedules and he was very responsive to questions from us and the tradesmen on site. As promised, the construction team was here for 12 hours a day, six days a week and we found all of the tradesmen to be very professional, polite and willing to answer any questions we might have. There were a couple of minor hiccups and change orders during the process and the hiccups were dealt with within the contract price and the change orders were priced fairly and incorporated without problems.

The full job was completed within 3 weeks, a few days ahead of schedule. Clean-up was thorough and the few items on the punch list were addressed immediately. We'd be more than happy to recommend and work with Yan, Ludmila, Michael and the Capable team again!

My parents basement was turned into a 2 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, laundry room, furnace room and storage room. I met Yan 3 months ago for my free estimate (The Capable Group was the the 3rd contractor I met with), he was very friendly, professional and prepared. I got my estimate right there during our meeting. Yan explained to me the whole process from demolition, design, timelines and construction.

The choice for me to chose the capable group was easy but before I commented to Yan to use his services I explained to him that this project must be completed in 90 days because my wife is expecting our first child around August 1st. And the reason we are moving to my parents home is for me provide care for my elderly parents so I needed to be comfortable, warm and safe for my Wife and baby.

The whole basement (aprox 900ft) was completed in 8 weeks. All their timelines were true. We first meet their designer to talk about our needs and our design style. After a 1 day demo we picked our layout from 2 options, after that we began work with the Capable Groups Project Manager Mike. Mike is professional and very knowledgeable, he made himself available through the whole project. He addressed all our concerns and fixed any issues that came up immediately.

We have been living in the space now for 2 weeks with no issues. I look forward to the future and have asked the Capable Group to help me renovate the entire house.

Capable Basements did a fantastic job with our basement project. It was done with quality and on time.
