modernized building group - No Longer in Business

Octavio is extremely honest, hardworking and does and amazing job. I would not hesitate to recommend him. He is talented, master craftsman and experienced. If anyone has an issue with his work, they might be the issue.

Would never recommend Octavio and his company to anyone. He's good at his job but only when he shows up and must be present to supervise his crew or they won't do the job correctly or show up at all. They actually damaged parts of our home and never repaired them.

We started our three level addition to the back of our home in October 2014 and he never finished. The job was to have been completed up to drywall, including both inspections by the city. The framing was never completed and paperwork for the first inspection was not sent in full. We had to hire our own engineer to prove the foundation and footing was even complete.

The job was to have been completed within two months, tops. Needless to say, it was not. Our house was open to the multiple -30 degree weather days and nights over the entire winter. In fact, after demolishing our upstairs washroom, they never capped the plumbing. We didn't find out until coming home one day during the January thaw and we found that our kitchen (directly below this washroom) had caved in and water was pouring down into the basement. Left numerous messages about coming to repair it and he finally came and just did some provisional plumbing. His promise to repair our kitchen (not part of the renovation) never happened, nor did the replacement of the damaged basement carpeting. In fact, all my upper kitchen cabinets still sit in the basement after having to remove them from the damaged walls.

Our laundry was disconnected in November 2014 and he never finished the work necessary to reconnect it. We finally contracted another person to do the work in July 2015; this was after repeated promises and conversations with him where he promised to show up the next day, the next week, etc.

The last time he was at our house to do any significant work was in April 2015 when we shamed him into making our home with our young family secure by properly installing the back and side doors with locks in the addition. They'd been purchased for months and we'd been "securing" our home using sticks propped behind the doors.

My husband and I would never recommend Octavio to anyone; he isn't truthful, will tell you sad stories and promise the world. We have a four year old; our house was bleeding heat over one of the coldest winters in history, no laundry and a nightmare of a renovation. He took our money and delivered little on his promises. Makes us believe the previous reviews are fake. We'd upload pictures but it's too embarrassing. Hire at your own risk.

I met Octavio from modernized building group through one of the sub trades working on our house.  I initially hired him to do all the rough carpentry in our new home. That quickly turned into him doing just about everything.. Addition, windows, structural work, and a fabulous deck! He's an honest hardworking guy and takes unbelievable pride in his work , and believe me that is very hard to find.

Would and will hire him again without question.

From framing footings to framing the home moderinized building group was very punctual delivering every step as
Promised . I would definately use them again on our next projects. From foreman to workers very professional .

These guys are tops. Excellent workmanship, a very experienced crew. Completed a load bearing wall and some other carpentry. Octavio is a great! Hard working and they deliver results.

I have hired Ottavio to do a rear addition to my bungalow. Modernized Building Group came as discussed and finished the addition in 1 day...and under the rain!!!! No one will bit Ottavio. I was so impressed that I wanted to build the second floor addition:) All jokes aside, Ottavio and his crue are hard workers and highly reccomended!

The two brothers (Octavio and John) made many helful suggestions to my project, always keeping in mind what I wanted to achieve in the end. Through collaboration amongst the three of us, a fabulous idea and finished product was achieved. Quality and workmanship were superb. The whole frontage of my home looks esthetically pleasing as well as much different than before. Even as the work was being performed, improvements to the original plan were considered. Several changes were made before the final product was completed. These gentlemen were very patient and were only interested in my satisfaction. If you are looking for rough carpenters, I would recommend them without hesitation. You will not be dissappointed with the outcome of their work and your satisfaction.

I was stuck in the middle of a load bearing wall removal project after on contractor bailed in the middle of it. The MODERNIZED building group came in so fast and efficient putting up the LVLs and protecting the heritage adjacent ceilings. No cracks! it was amazing. Perfect workmanship, knowledgeable, confident and experienced. I highly doubt you find better guys for this work! – Octavio is a super nice individual. I have no hesitation providing an excellent reference, I would use them again in a flash.
