We called the Fixman ad on Kijiji for dryer repair. Later we came to know that the company was called Express Appliance Repair. They sent Roman over. He found that one of the two 30Amp fuses in our fuse box was missing. We took out a fuse from another socket and he placed it in the spot. He charged us $140 for repairs, instead of $79 for diagnosis.
His argument was, 'you dryer is working, is it not?' In retrospect, we should not have handed him our fuse but put it in ourselves!
No upfront repair cost was mentioned. If he had mentioned that he would charge $140 for putting in a fuse, we would not have gone ahead with the repairs.
