A Word of Advice from a Current Urban Studio Client
Im a current client of Urban Studio. While my Addition project isnt complete yetI only signed the contract on September 23rd, 2024I felt it was important to share my experience so far.
Initially, I decided to have my drawings done by one company and have the addition built later on by another once I received the citys approval.
My advice: dont do this!
Once the build started, complications began to emerge. The blame laid entirely with the company that I initially hired to assist me with the design and the drawings, before hiring Urban Studio for the construction stage. Although the plans they provided were approved by the city, when it came time to build, it became clear that the drawings were impractical, and just plain impossible to construct as drawn. As a result, the drawings had to be redone by Urban Studios team and resubmitted to the citya three-week delay, and an unexpected extra cost which could have been avoided.
Luckily, Urban Studio has been a bright spot in this process. Joseph and his team of Architects and Engineers have been amazing at identifying and solving these issues before they escalated into major problems.
If youre planning a renovation, my strongest advice is to work with a single company that handles both the design and the build. In hindsight, I wish I had chosen Urban Studio from the beginning. What I thought would save me money has ended up costing me far morein finances, time, and frustration.
