Bathroom Renovation/Mold removal.

I live in a mobile home located in Airdrie. Was very happy with the work matt did in our bathroom he went the extra mile to help reseal the bottom of our bathtub and helped fix the tub as well. The company removed all mold that built up behind our toilet, and the mold that got into the tiles in our bathtub. They replaced with fiberglass piece and painted white, which I helped strengthen by adding a ultra white epoxy that's waterproof and it looks amazing. Everything matches and our bathroom with me repainting the walls and cabinets looks like its been renovated. They are also replacing some skirting on the outside of the mobile home that was letting moisture in and making sure its waterproof and sealed properly. Only complaint is how long it's taking to get done was quoted 2 day job and its been a month and they are just finishing the outside as of next week of this review. Employees are friendly and professional and can answer any questions you may have. 4/5 stars would be 5/5 if they were able to meet deadlines which may be a huge deal for you.

Asbestos Removal and Mold Remediation

Hired Building Works for asbestos removal from attic and mold remediation in basement. They were not the cheapest quote but they committed to hitting the timelines required to have the work completed before I moved in. Long story short they missed the deadline by nearly a month, did not truthfully communicate project status resulting in increased safety risk for my movers and increased costs to me, the quality of work was lower than expected as I had to request that they finish scope of work that was missed multiple times (and was never completed). And, the most concerning issue is that Alberta OHS shut them down for over a week due to worker safety concerns.

They did attempt to make me whole by offering a discount on the project, which covered my additional costs. I appreciate the organization attempt to make this right. However, I would caution working with this organization if there is a potential to increase safety risk to other contractors or you need effective project management to hit specific timelines. I would also encourage future customers to ask a few more questions on their worker safety protocols before hiring Building Works.

Foundation rot repair

Tim was professional and offered a good solution to fix the issue.
Some of their workers were a little rough and sloppy, but to some degree its expected for the type of work they do I guess. Suggest however that they are trained to be a little more careful as it could cost Building Works repair cost. I let this slide this time and fixed my broken irrigation lines myself. Pablo and Khan were a different crew and these fellows were polite and quick. They cleaned up after there part was done and did a great job. Building Works is lucky to have these fellows

Restoration and Repair of Deck and Sinking Pillar on a House with a walk out Basement

Tim was excellent in identifying the problem with the deck. We had 2 other companies come out and one could not see the problem and the other company said it was going to be 50K to fix. Matt and Sammy were great to work with. They not only repaired the rotten wood but they fixed the sunken pillar and corrected the slope of the deck. They had to remove the stone on all 3 pillars and then rebuild them with Hardy Board Fiber-cement cladding. They installed plywood deck sheathing and applied polyurethane sealant to all plywood seams. They did a master seal basecoat to the entire deck and then applied 2 coats of Masterseal Top Coat with sand broadcast. They did a great job with clean up and were very accommodating to changes we wanted. I would highly recommend this company as they were very professional and thorough.

Building Envelope Inspection

We hired Building Works to perform a Building envelope inspection of our 3 story home due to window and foundation leaks. We were very pleased by their thorough investigation process in which they discovered many anomalies that were missed by previous contractors. We were equally pleased and impressed by the restoration work that they completed. They whole time Marco the Project Manager kept us informed of the daily scope of work and he went far and beyond to meet our needs during the restoration process. They were also extremely respectful to our property . All in all great experience from the inspection process to the restoration work. Will definitely recommend.

Stay away

When I first contacted Erich I gave him one simple question if he can find a condensation related problem in my basement. His answer was yes and they will also provide me with a report and estimate for the repair. He sent his employee Marco. After he arrived at my house I gave him a same question. His answer was yes as well. He did a thermal imaging, send me a report and cost of repair. His report said that there is a crack in foundation or HVAC problem. His guess was very
wrong. It was a poorly done vapor barrier in rim joist area. I sent an email where I asked for a refund. Waited a few days, no answer. Then I decided to raise the heat, so I sent another email that I will write a bad review abot the company. Guess what? Mr.Erich called me next morning and make appointment with me. He came to my house and he stand firmly on Marco's side even my walls was opened and I had insulation experts saying otherwise. It's been a week since he was here and
suppose to call me next day. Anyway he blows his chance to do the right thing for his company and refund me with my 350$. I wish a good luck everyone who decide to give them a chance. Lubos

Unprofessional

Erich is only attentive, communicative and timely when it serves his purpose and schedule. Once the contract was signed, it was difficult to get ahold of him, he pushed the start date back without communicating changes with me and he was unapologetic. I had to basically harass the office manager in order to get the job done. While the work seems fine, it was absolutely maddening to deal with Erich and I certainly wouldn’t recommend his company.

Remediate Basement Floor and Water Intrusion

We contracted Building Works to demolish our residential basement structure and replace the concrete floor. We also required repairs to multiple cracks in concrete window frames which were leaking. Structure was restored to insulated frost walls. The quoted cost did not change except for the crack filling which was an unexpected extra requirement. All the trades people who worked on various parts of the project were friendly, skilled, and committed to complete their work to a high professional standard. Because of the extensive crack filling required, the project ran over the estimated time and into other scheduled work but Erich always communicated with us promptly, and all the agreed upon work was completed. Erich even sent the crew to finish up one final task AFTER the final invoice was paid out, which is a testimony to their commitment and trustworthiness. No hesitation recommending BW for any residential project.

Water leaking through siding and windows (Home Envelope Repairs)

We had a problem with water entering our home through our siding and windows. We had a few individuals try come to try to fix the issues and after paying these people, the issue was not resolved. We heard about Building Works and called them after the water started to enter our home again.

Eric showed up immediately after we called. He determined rather quickly on what the issue was. He sat down with us and provided us a detailed hand drawing and solution to the problem. Eric showed us the many years of experience that Building Works had in doing these types of repairs. We were concerned about mold in our home and Building Works has a company called Mold Squad that provides Mold removal and remediation services. Luckily we didn't have mold.

Eric also showed us that Building Works partners with a company called Finance It and they quoted a simple and reasonable finance plan for the repairs.

A detailed quote was provided to us within a few days and we decided to have the work done. This took a while to schedule the repairs as Building Works seems to be a very busy company.

The Building Works Crew came and did this work all in less than one day , which was quite impressive. They removed the entire siding on one side of the home, removed two large windows with the trim, replaced the old vapor barrier with a new vapor barrier, re-installed and re-sealed the windows, and replaced the siding.

Building works staff worked quickly and were courteous. After the job was done they repainted the interior trim and walls, cleaned the entire site, and cleaned the interior of our home. My wife was home while they did the repairs. When I came home that evening, I didn't even know that they were there. They did such a fantastic job.

I would recommend Building Works to anyone that is having problems with your home envelope Windows, Doors, siding, including and kind of mold problems. They are a decent company to deal with and we are quite satisfied with the repairs so far.
