Junk Squad

Firstly they say their trucks are three times that of the other companies which is not true the truck that showed up at my door was slightly bigger than twice the others. They hide the landfill fee something the others do not seem to charge. I picked this company because they state that they will recycle and reuse items but this is not true. The driver of the truck that came to my place said he makes the call on if items can be reused and he chooses to take it all to the dump. I was told that the cost of dumping everything would be about $200 so was quite surprised when I was charged an additional $400 on my credit card, no invoice provided just a charge. When I tried to leave a comment on their site found that only positive comments are allowed and their e-mail response to me was quite rude. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Junk Squad blatantly misrepresents the services it provides and seems to promote and supports its' employees in treating customers with disrespect and disdain. Junk Squad has completely lost sight of the basic business fact that customers however big or small or insignificant are the most important part of any business and without them there simply is not a business. Junk Squad does not take the time to listen to the customers and as such the integrity of Junk Squad is questionable at best. The business practice of cutting corners and using the ignorance of the customer to give them less than good service(s) in an attempt to only add to Junk Squad's bottom line in my opinion is the lowest form of business. Junk Squad is greedy and lacks ethical business practices all in an effort to make a profit and take advantage of customers. Junk Squad should be ashamed of itself and the business practices it seems to have adopted. Our invoice was tripple what we expected to pay. Our landfill charges $368 (their charge $198), full truck $489 (their charge $489+170 labour+170 out of service area fee) quickly added up. All attempts to speak with management went nowhere as it was our all our fault for signing the invoice and landfill pre-authorization form.

No fault of the guys doing the work - they arrived on time, were very polite, gave their quote and hauled away the junk efficiently which beats 99% of the poor service I have gotten from most other contractors. But that disposal fee for "dense material", while I sort of get it, makes you feel like you're being had because you have no clue about the actual weight. So you can choose to prepay based on a random guess-timate of the weight, or take the chance and get nailed with a bill later that you can't contest... either way you lose.

I hired them. They were good, and I was happy until we received the hidden landfill fee which came out to around 400$. I'm pretty sure they don't do the sorting that they say they do, and they just put it straight in the dump. At 200$/ton it's definitely inflated and you can't do anything about it. I received a fake invoice from the company, and they are terribly slow at responding to emails, phone calls. Try another company, because this is a pain in the behind to deal with.

Do not hire Junk Squad to remove your junk!

Despite me explaining that the job entailed removing some old bricks and flagstone, they sent two kids (maybe early 20s) completely unprepared. No work gloves, no wheelbarrow, nothing.

They gave me a written quote and added an $85 additional charge apparently due to the nature of the junk. Fine, I agreed to the amount. They loaded the truck, but asked for garbage bags... Really?! A junk removal service that doesn't bring their own garbage bags?! (they didn't even return the rest of the roll once done!)

They finish and come to the door for payment. Instead of presenting us with the original quote, they had hastily written up a new one that had another $85 charge added, plus a higher base charge... Did they think we wouldn't notice they switched the quote?!

We pointed this out, and they argued with us. Really?? We then had to sign a preauthorization form for landfill fees (not mentioned when I first booked the quote). The charge is $200/ton so we're thinking it's fine, there's no WAY our junk weighs more than this.

Well, a couple weeks later, our credit card was charged a whopping $709.64 for landfill fees!!!!! This amount was even more than what our card was preauthorized for!!! When I requested a receipt from the landfill, I was given the runaround and never provided one.

Next time, I will just wait for an available appointment from a more reputable company.

I called Just Junk and Got Junk before calling Junk Squad. Their price was higher before the landfill fee was added. Just a word of advice for anyone using professional junk removal company, the quoted price does not include the landfill fee. Yea, I was shocked at the $400 fee but what can you do? Would you take haul the garbage out yourself? I am saving time and energy for the amount of work involved. Junk Squad is cheaper than others for sure. You only have to monitor them and make sure they take everything away. Don't sign off until you are sure there is no more garbage. Overall good service, just don't be shocked at the landfill fee.

Yesterday I had the pleasure and immense relief of using Junk Squad for the first time. The two young men who were with us yesterday we over the top AMAZING. They worked their butts off running up and down three flights of stairs.. Up and down dozens of times. They had to deal with filth and squalor I myself (a Professional Organizer in Toronto) have never experienced. They never stopped. Never complained. Always smiled. They were also on time.

So please extend my gratitude to the two young men and make sure they're acknowledged.

Thank you again Junk Squad. You made the transfer of crap bearable.

I booked online...they arrived when committed...two friendly strong men arrived with a dolly and moved my 5 old appliances out of my condo very efficiently, always with a smile and without any mess...
I was impressed, as I read some negative reviews before booking but usually negative reviews are not always the case...

Very dissatisfied. Booked them for furniture removal. Website indicated you pay for how much space is taken up in their truck and prices clearly listed. First they called to say they will be an hour late passed the window. I had been waiting two hours already. Now I was supposed to wait ANOTHER hour! But here is the best part. The driver said I had to give him credit card pre approval. He would weigh items upon drop off and Bill me whatever it was on my card! So on top of paying for the rate for pick up, I would pay for weight. Except I didn't know what that would be so just hand over a blank credit card authorization slip. This information is conveniently left off their website.

Junk Squad is an amazing company and I was very happy with the service I received. They provided me with superb service and they donated a large portion of my junk to Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. They were careful moving large junk out of the property and they were professional and friendly. I plan to use them for all my rental properties and I should mention that I saved a lot of money with Junk Squad. Their trucks are huge so I was able to remove lot of junk that would have needed three trucks with the GOT JUNK company. I saved over $800 and I couldn't be happier. I use junk removal companies all the time for rental properties so I can say with confidence that Junk Squad is the best.
