Moore Skylights Inc installed a Velux VCE 3030 electric skylight and a matching flashing kit that I had purchase at Lowes. I elected to purchase a hardwired skylight because I didn’t want to have to go onto the roof to change the batteries every 5 years or so; and I wanted to be able to turn off the power at times, especially during the winter because the IOT encryption is not very secure on these types of devices. This Velux skylight was installed in October 2017. This review is being written 12 months after the installation after going through the 4 seasons. I waited before writing this review as reviews posted immediately after an installation wouldn’t have much value as the skylight’s waterproofing would not have been tested over time.
Moore Skylights was replacing a Columbia fixed skylight that had been in place for about 13 years which had been installed by a “well-known” roofing company. That previous Columbia skylight was never installed properly, poor flashing, caulking only with no waterproofing underlayment. I’m not saying that the Columbia skylight was bad, just the leak prone way that it had been installed by a “well-known” roofing company when they replace my roof years ago.
When installing my new Velux skylight in 2017, Moore Skylights provided a high quality waterproof adhesive underlayment and shingles exactly matching the existing roof. They also removed the old water damaged curb and installed a new higher curb. Moore Skylights provided me with pictures of their installation process on my roof and the old skylight removal. Their installation has proven to be leak tight throughout the year as I have had no moisture problems. The Velux electric, auto closing skylight works great too. Don’t trust your skylight installation to a roofing company like I mistakenly did 13 years ago. I highly recommend Moore Skylights to do the job! They are a professional skylight installation company with very high standards and know how.
