Westmount Craftsmen

Westmount just renovated our kitchen and living room, and changed the unusable attic into a master bedroom (and stairs). It took 3.5 months.

Steve was honest and fair in his quotes for the quality work being done. Nathan was our project manager. He laid out work in their apps calendar and I appreciated seeing what was coming up. He was very approachable and responsive whenever I had questions, and explained things well. He seemed to truly care to know what we wanted and why, so he could make it happen.

Matt and Ben were our consistent crew throughout the project, but we had many others that worked here for a few days or several weeks. All of the guys were great. I work at home so I had a lot of interaction with them, and always felt comfortable to have them around. They were respectful of my house, didnt come to work sick, and always spoke kindly around my 2 year old. Every evening they cleaned up enough to make our house as livable as it could be in a major renovation.

The work itself was detailed and professional. We had some unique problems, due to characteristics of our house. The crew and Nathan always approached them with a solution-oriented mindset; everything could be handled. We love the finished product. I definitely recommend Westmount Craftsmen to anyone wanting a quality renovation.

We contracted with Westmount Craftsmen to finish our basement. The plan was to turn it into more living space and not simply put up some walls. We divided the space into several sections including a home theater, gym , gaming area, and a full bathroom . From start to finish everyone involved in the project was incredibly professional and the finished product surpassed our expectations.

We connected with Collin about a year before our actual renovation started. Every interaction has been professional and positive! We felt no pressure to sign with Westmount for the job, or pressure to start a reno that we were honestly still unsure regarding what we really wanted for our home. All quotes given were detailed and understandable. Communication was always clear and considerate. Once we signed our contract, information on the Buildertrend app clearly outlined the scope of the work, budget and timeframe.

During the timeframe of our project, COVID-19 was becoming a serious concern. Everyone involved in the work on our home was consistent in keeping the work and home environments clean and separated, keeping each other safe, considerate of our worries early on and our decision to delay our job start date. The transition between the demolition crew and the rebuild crew was made thoughtfully to the trust built with our demo crew over the first half of our project. All Westmounts subcontractors are top notch and every one was respectful, funny, dedicated and great communicators.

We lived in our home during the entire reno with just one weekend away for spray foam insulation to be installed. We were given ample time to prepare for that during the weird days of COVID. Our home was checked on over that weekend and we were given updates with photos on how the insulation went and the smell that goes along with spray foam. On all working days, including the very messy ones with concrete being broken up and water lines being moved or put in, the crew kept all areas being worked in so clean and so safe. Dust doors were put up too and days with extremely loud noise, ie. concrete cutting, we were given warnings ahead of time.

Our entire project was incredibly efficient regarding scheduling and coordination of all work and installations. We were never waiting on anyone or any item. Communication, understanding, professional guidance in decision-making, and problem-solving were huge positive factors working with our Westmount team. The great example I can give of this is materials recommended and used - from our floors, to the four new windows installed, to the kitchen cabinets, every one hit our important targets of quality, functionality and budget-savvy choices.

12 to 16 weeks was our original time estimate. Our project wrapped up ahead of schedule despite some big scope creep which was accommodated without issue. In about 50 working days (or approx. 10 weeks) our basement was gutted, spray foam insulation was installed throughout. Then the basement was rebuilt including all new drywall, four new rooms two of which are bathrooms that involved tough concrete work, removal of a gas fireplace, three new windows, all new flooring throughout, a kitchenette, and new doors. Our main floor included the removal of all flooring but the bedrooms and original baths, removing the old kitchen and relocating plumbing and electrics for our new kitchen, new flooring throughout, walling off a walkthrough to the dining room to make the old kitchen a cozy den with a pocket door.. New LED pot lights were installed throughout the renovated spaces. Work that represents the thoroughness and skill of Westmount doing the entire job well was the reinforcing and stabilizing of our stairs and the time invested scribing the baseboards to meet the sometimes uneven concrete floors of our vintage bungalow! The attention to detail, the finishing touches, the thoughtful extra work put in are so plentiful that it’s hard to recount them.

Everyone involved, Collin, Kyle and his team (Shane and Trevor), Josh and Roland, our plumbers and electricians, the drywall finisher, the painters…everyone we would be more than happy to have back for any future projects on our home. The job couldn’t have been done better and we couldn’t love the end results more.

After recently purchasing a new property, my fiancée and I wanted to redo the ensuite bathroom and finish the basement bathroom. As this was our first remodeling project, we selected Westmount Craftsmen based on Google reviews. Though we called up a few companies for a quote, none were as responsive as Westmount. Collin was excellent in explaining the process and was very attentive. He always explains the pros and cons with each of your options and never pushes you to make a certain choice so you feel good knowing that you're making a well informed decision.

Once everything was decided, our contractor Mike was in to start the work. Mike is extremely hard working and is an absolute professional. He was very easy and fun to work with and would always make sure that we are happy with everything he has done.

The level of communication, logistics, professionalism and workmanship that Westmount Crafstmen provides is stellar. There is no other company I would recommend and can easily say that they will be the first and only company I would call going into the future.

I've seen some reviews that say they're "pricey" but keep in mind that they set very healthy allowances for all your selections and by the end of everything, we came in under the quoted price by quite a bit. Not to mention, you can sleep with ease at night knowing certified, licensed professionals have done the work.

Westmount Craftsmen were recommended to us and we are super happy we went with them. Our 6 week renovation was on time and on budget. We worked with a designer and Westmount was the construction company we hired. The renovation included the kitchen and main living area, master bedroom and ensuite, new flooring and new paint. What we think sets Westmount Craftsmen apart are their employees who are reliable, great communicators, pleasant, knowledgeable, respectful and trustworthy. Collin was our main point of contact throughout the process and he was very responsive. Michael was the main lead on the project and at the house most of the time. Michael was an amazing lead, was organized, easy to have a conversation with, knowledgeable, accomodating and reliable and a really nice person to top it off!
I personally have worked on a number of renovation projects (commercial) and there are always issues that show up. To me, the sign of a great company is how they handle the issues and deal with them right away to your satisfaction. We had very few (and I mean very few) small issues and they were dealt with right away and made right.

We just finished a renovation (addition out the back of our house, and new kitchen) by Westmount Craftsmen. We love the way it turned out and are so happy we chose Westmount. The whole process from start to finish was well communicated to us, and we found them very reliable, and the work done at high quality. The site manager, Robert, was professional, knowledgeable, conscientious, and trustworthy. All the employees were personable and respectful of our house and our space. I was most impressed by the way they handled any little issues that came up and dealt with them strait away and made sure we were satisfied. Collin was fantastic in this way, and it made a huge difference to our experience. Westmount was also great in the way they communicated and worked with the decorators, and the company that built and installed our kitchen cabinets. This made the whole process run smoothly. we looked at a lot of places before committing and ad lower quotes but they had the best reviews and for a reason the guys did a great job. no drama they did everything we asked of them and kept it as clean as possible. great job guys I would recommend you guys to anyone in the Waterloo region. We hired Westmount Craftsmen to add a walkout and sunroom to our basement granny suite. We could not have been happier with the courtesy, workmanship and cost. They did a superb job, stayed on budget and indulged our many requests without complaint. We were VERY impressed with their workmanship and work ethics. They were always on time and worked diligently. We highly recommend them and give them a 5 star review with gratitude for our beautiful new room, deck, patio and garden wall.

Last year, Westmount Craftsmen did a major renovation on our back split. Almost all the levels of the house where touched. They did such a great and professional job that we called them back to renovate the main bathroom. They helped us source some of the pieces and order them. They make a big effort in communicating the day to day activities and answer any concerns/questions we have. They listen and worked us . I would highly recommend Westmount Craftsmen.
