duplex

Was looking for a house when we stumble through Kijiji. We found their ad listing their duplex for 330,000, a free double garage and a $15,000 credit to use as we wish (backyard, appliances, etc.) We even texted them right away and responded that it is what it says on the ad. So the next day we hurriedly check the show home. At first the guy told us that, they are not sure if there is still that 330,000 promo. He even told us that they raised all the houses. So we complained that we texted the evening before and someone said it is still available. The guy also told us that there wasnt a 15,000 credit. And only $2500 for the appliances. We showed him the ad, told him that they should honor their ad on kijiji. And he said it was just a mistake. So, okay. The price was a mistake, the 15,000 credit was a mistake. What else? We ended up buying the house that cost a little bit higher. They said it should be ready early September of this year (Ive heard that my neighbor bought theirs this March and promised to have it done by Early July.) So September comes and they said it might be Mid October or End of October... Nope. Now, we are looking at mid November or Early December. We didnt plan on moving in a winter -_-! They said we will have the news last week and since last week, we waited patiently.. and now we are still waiting.. they said it would be a 35 day notice. So right now we are looking at mid November. So frustrating!!!! From July to December.. that is 6 long months of delaying the move in date. Whats worst is that they said the house is ready to move in but when we visited, by the looks of it, there is more work to be done! They even keep on boasting that they are the fastest builder!! Then I asked whats the status of our home, and they couldnt even reply!! I recommend other builder! Very disappointing!! Never again!!

New Home

We bought our house from Connect in March of 2014. GREAT salesperson - she did a fantastic job on selling the house to us and continued to contact us until she left the company about 2 months later....then nothing.

They had originally told us that we would be moved in late July/August. Its construction so we were not betting on it. But it kept getting pushed back. There was also VERY little communication. No one picked up their phone and getting a call back from voicemail was a pain. We got a choice of move-in dates which were several days apart and if they didn't work well too bad.

The day we got our keys they were still in there fixing things. VERY brief walk-though, specially as we had no prior walk-throughs up till this point.

Since we have moved in, getting a hold of Connect themselves has been nearly impossible. Several calls to them and no one will pick up or call back. The showhomes are routinely not open in our area.

Communication is seriously lacking in this builder. Similar homes can be found through different builders and I suggest going that route.

New Home Builder

March 12, 2015, Edmonton

I can't agree more with the other comment. The salesman did a great job - no doubt.

Connect Homes is marketing and telling to their clients they are able to deliver their house, very easily, in 6 months. To support their point, they are explaining as the framing is prefab, that allows them to be faster than the concurrence. Maybe if they will be able to manage properly their schedule, labor and plant that will be true - but obviously it seems not to be part of their abilities.

We signed our contract in August 2014, the house was supposed to be ready in February 2015. Some setbacks apparently occurred, and the date was pushed. We met the salesman and we had the confirmation that should be ready around April/ May. We trusted them, and choose our lease in accordance.

This week I learnt we were now speaking about June/August… From 6 months to 12 months... and the house is not in production yet and the permit is not granted neither…

I really wanted to believe them, and honestly though they have a good concept.

Now trust has been broken – Avoid Connect Homes.

New Home Build

The buying process went very smoothly. Having a good sales person always helps. They did their job well. Connect boasts about having the fastest turn around in the city for houses being built. We were told the average is 6 months from signing to possession, and the longest they had ever had had been 7 months. We were sold. Six and a half months passed with hearing nothing. We watched our new home sit there for four months without the outside being completely finished. They did not even put the basement windows in for almost two months. Water from rain went through these windows and pooled in the basement. We finally got a possession date which would bring us to EIGHT months from when we signed. Seven days before our possession Connect told us it would not be done for our possession still! We booked movers, utilities, furniture and appliances to be installed already... not to mention how we had already given our notice with our current landlords. Talk about a complete screw up on Connect's end. That should never happen. Don't believe the speech about moving in fast. It's about the same as other builders, and not worth the hassle with that kind of mess up.
