wiring and fixtures

I saw the great reviews and contacted Vlad. I already had 2 other estimates in hand, and Vlad's came in the middle. Although I had a lower estimate from someone else, I didn't feel as comfortable with that provider. I had a good feeling with Vlad when he showed up for a free estimate. He was courteous, knowledgeable, prompt, and the plus is that his team also does patching and painting (for a fee). The other 2 estimates I got, those electricians told me that I'd have to find someone else to do patching and painting. The electrical work came out to $1,800 and the patching/painting came out to $400. $2,200 total.
On the day of service, his team was scheduled to start at 9 AM. Three guys came up, lead by Steve. Vlad showed up in the middle of the job to inspect how it was going, and to provide some last minute guidance, but Steve was the main guy for the actual job. They started with the bathroom fixtures, swapping them out for 2 new ones. Easy. Then they started on installing a new light fixture in my office. Initially, I wanted a 2 gang switch by the door to replace the 1 gang switch there. But upon further inspection, Steve said it would be a lot more work. He recommended using the second switch by the closet, and installing a 2 gang switch there to replace the 1 gang switch. I liked the recommendation and said 'go for it'. He had one guy work on that while Steve and the 3rd guy did the track lights. I had 2 track lights, both by WAC. One was a curvy solo rail track light, which they did a great job installing into the cement ceiling and then adding my Lutron dimmer switch. Then they did the straight mono rail track and added another dimmer for that as well. They did a great job patching, painting, and cleaning up.
They were done and out the door by 4 pm. All in all, I was extremely pleased with the quality of work, the fair pricing, and courteous nature exhibited by Vlad, Steve, and team. I absolutely recommend Community Electric and will recommend him to my friends. If I have any further electrical work, he's my guy.

Lighting Installation

From our old office, I called Community Electric and a technician arrived the next day, even earlier than expected. He was extremely nice, friendly, knowledgable and worked quickly yet carefully. The price was very reasonable and he accepted my "10% off first job" coupon from that we got from them on a flyer in the mail.On the day of the move I once again called Community Electric and a technician was there the next day. My employer was panicking because he thought we would also need a carpenter for the job. I was confident enough to assure him that the technician from CE had probably done something like this before and he would know what to do. Sure enough, the tech had the light installed in a couple of hours - no carpenter needed. He, too, was professional, friendly and knowledgeable.

Electrical Inspection

I live in Toronto and finding a reputable electrician is almost impossible. I needed
an inspection of electrical outlets located under windows which allowed water into
my apartment and onto the outlets. This was not a big job but important. I found two companies on
Homestars and obtained a reference from an acquaintance. The reference said no to the job … too
small. While the other company did not return my vmail, Community Electric was very responsive.
Community Electric sent their electrician Vlad to my place within 2 days. He was great. He thoroughly checked all of the questionable electrical areas/part (wires, boxes, etc.) and was able to determine the extent of water damage to the electrical system quickly. He gave his recommendations after the
inspection. Two days later, I received an estimate from Community Electric to fix the problem.
I enjoyed working with Community Electric. They made the process efficient and painless. Both the estimate and the cost of the inspection were reasonably priced. I will definitely use them for the job.

Lighting installation

I contacted Vlad to inquire about the job, he called me back promptly, and we scheduled a free estimate two days later. He arrived early, was very helpful and friendly, and assessed the work that needed to be done quickly and thoroughly. The quote was $950 for the installation of 3 lights in 3 closets and an additional $250 for patching up of the walls/painting. This was lower than other quotes we received and most of the other companies I contacted didn't offer the patching/painting service.
We scheduled the work for the following week and Aidan and his colleague arrived early. Although we allotted a full day for the work, they ended up finishing early and giving us a call when they were done. When we arrived back home the work looked great and the place seemed cleaner than before they arrived. Overall, we were very pleased with the job and the professionalism of Community Electric and would absolutely hire them again for any future work.

Sockets/Switches

I described the issues and based on Vlads experience and knowledge he gave a brief overview on what the problems may be and his expected solutions. Then he went to each of the non-functioning sockets/switches and fusebox and checked the issues and fixed every single one. He also worked on one or two others that I didn't know of beforehand. Community Electric was very easy to work with and after three months I am still satisfied with the work done.

Light Fixture Installation

I had a good experience. They had a lot of positive comments on Homestars. It was a small job but I would not hesitate to hire CE again. They treated me very well and were respective. I believe their prices were fair. They only problem is they have a minimum fee to come to the house. So you should probably have a lot of work for them to do to make it worthwhile. Aidan was a very nice guy and the person I talked to on the phone was nice as well and very straight forward and competent. They were also able to schedule me quickly since it was a small job. The electrician was courteous as well. It was a positive experience.

Troubleshooting the lights

On Saturday night, my lights went out on the first floor of my house. I go to my basement and turn on circuit breaker that turned off, but lights kept turning off. Additionally, a burning plastic/rubber smell was getting stronger. Immediately, we called 911, they came right away and luckily no fire resulted, but they could not figure out where the smell was coming from after investigating all the rooms inside and out. Only advice from the fire department was to call an electrician. Luckily, I just used Homestars 2 weeks prior to this and decided to take a look at it again to look up electricians in my area. I found Community Electric and read most of the reviews and chose them. On Sunday, knowing they were closed in the weekend, I called and emailed them for someone to contact me asap. On, Monday morning, I get a call at 9am, spoke to Vlad and explained the whole story. He advised me their rate and estimated time for troubleshooting, then immediately was able to assign one of his crew, Aidan, to troubleshoot that same day. Aidan & another guy were very thorough, plus Vlad also came and explained what the cause were and what needs to be done. Additionally, they also troubleshooted lights on the second floor and provided solutions and cost estimates to turn them back. Vlad and his crew were attentive, very knowledgeable and professional. Vlad continues to answer, follow up and provide suggestions on any concerns and questions I may have, especially with cost estimates.

Electrical extension

Aidan was impressively responsive from my initial point of contact via email, through work completion. He provided a prompt and detailed estimate, we agreed on a date for the work to be completed and everything went incredibly smoothly. He showed up on time, his crew was polite, professional, communicative and personal. We were in very good hands with Steve and we are very very pleased with the end result. We would use Community Electric for any electrical or wiring needs in the future. I am highly particular about the details and could not be happier with the execution, regard for my home and the neatness of the job, and getting it "right". Love that they are local and we also thought the price was very fair.

Electrical work

I was immensely happy with the work done at our home by Community Electric. I originally brought multiple companies to bid on some things recommended in our engineer's report (like replacing the circuit breakers), and things we knew were broken (exterior light, wall heater). However, I knew our electric bills were too high, so I asked each company to make other recommendations to save on our monthly bills, without compromising adequate lighting and safety. Their suggestions were great and we are saving over 30% on our electric bills. I didn't want to write any review until we could see if the savings could be realized. We are thrilled with their professionalism. This entire job will pay for itself in about one year, and save us a fortune in the years ahead!
