I hired My City Movers for my move from 900 sf condo to a similar size apartment in Langley ~20 km away. I submitted my requirements (full service: pack/load/move and unload, moving date, locations, sq. footage, etc.) by email and online form to five moving companies and received Vadim’s email response in less than 24 hours. To this day three of the companies still have not responded to my inquiry.
Vadim was patient with the numerous questions I had and provided clear answers either by telephone or via email. In particular I wanted to know how my few pieces of artwork and antique furniture would be protected during the move and he assured me that each piece would be blanket-wrapped, and that the bed would be dismantled and set-up at the new place.
The packing crew arrived on time (shortly after 9); Joe (driver), Isaac and Max did a superb job of packing my belongings and completed that part of the job in an impressive 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Joe returned the next morning along with Isaac, plus Brian and Glen. The four of them made quick work of filling the elevator, off-loading it in the lobby and returning the elevator to service so other residents in the building would be inconvenienced as little as possible. My possessions were loaded onto the truck and were on their way around noon time.
The rain held off in Langley, the truck was unloaded and my household goods and furniture were put in the appropriate rooms – because the boxes had been correctly labelled by the packers. I had agreed to have the boxes unpacked and am I ever glad of that decision! By the time the furniture was put in place, the bed set-up and the boxes unloaded (about 3 pm) my ‘new’ place was in pretty good shape; no mess of packing paper and empty boxes to deal with. Wonderful.
An empty 6” plant pot was a casualty of the move (no need to replace that thrift shop bargain), and the ‘foot’ of a cabinet was slightly marred but the Furniture Medic will be stopping by to remedy that and will bill MCM directly.
My experience with MCM was excellent; very good customer service. Both crews were terrific. I have Joe, Isaac, Max, Brian and Glen to thank for making a stressful situation, fun! They were courteous, respectful of my belongings, funny, efficient and experienced in the art of the well-organized move. Joe was diligent about tracking the arrival and start time for each crew member, as well as noting the amount of supplies that were used. At the end of the day he reviewed the detailed invoice with me, answered any questions I had and thanks to modern technology I paid the invoice on the spot by credit card. I have already recommended MCM to a friend who will be moving very soon and I would hire MCM if I had to do it all over again.
