Artisan Landscaping

So disappointed. In September, we began digging out our lawn to plant a typical cottage garden of herbs, vegetables and flowers so Feb. 9 was the big day for soil arrival. The "soil" arrived but was nothing more than 12 yards of wood chips and bark mulch and pieces of metal and plastic from the Delta landfill. Panicked, I called Steve who justified the wood chips explaining "flowers require less acidic soil from veg" ( According to master gardeners, pH should be between 6-7 for both. So full of baloney.) Steve suggested we buy his mushroom manure and add it to the chips if we wanted it for vegetables but otherwise said it couldn't be used for lawn or vegetable planting. So now we're stuck with 12 yards of bark mulch and a cottage garden dream completely ruined. Don't use Artisan.

In March, 2019 we ordered 4 yards of Black Gold Organic Soil Amender. Even at the time we noticed how much bark was in the load; not shredded bark but large pieces, very visible. Well, a year later we're still picking out those pieces of bark as well as the small bits of plastic that were embedded throughout. The application of "Black Gold" has made no visible difference in our garden except adding to our work getting rid of the debris.
I would never recommend this company.

Don't get near this guy if you are looking for an organic or just good quality soil for your garden. He claims it's top-notch but in reality his so-called "organic" garden soil is full of plastic garbage and is likely just a mix of some city collected soil, that is barely suitable for lawns, and manure. It's not screened with lots of wood pieces and some rocks, and not properly composted/processed. Don't buy into his sales pitch about happy customers.

I ordered two yards of topsoil to be delivered to our home. The soil was to be organic and double screened. The delivery was a few hours later than promised, but that was not much of a problem. The soil was not of good quality. There was a lot of wood chunks and twigs in the product which were left on the soil surface once the lawn seed was watered. I was not happy with the product as it was not good for growing new grass seed.
