These guys were sub-contracted by the company we called. Came out on and replaced our dryer's thermostat for $360(!). Less than three months later the thermostat broke again and when we called them they scheduled our appointment almost a week after we called, which perfectly coincided with being 91 days after the service, meaning our 90-day parts warranty was void. The woman we spoke with on the phone seemed uninterested in helping us and didn't really seem to care about our issue.

A terrible and expensive company that should be avoided at all costs. We hired another company to come and fix our thermostat which they did for half the price.

Technician showed up to see why my washer wasn't draining. He took the plug out of the front (which I already did prior to him arriving) and that wasn't the cause of the issue. I was told that he had to look in the back and because my condo sized closet where the washer is located is a bit tight he refused to do anything further in fear of damaging the closet etc. So that was $85. I had to get a friend to come over and take the washer out so that the technician could come back and look in the back. The technician came, shined a flashlight, shook the drum and told me the drain pump was gone and it would run me about $500 so I best buy a new one. I was also charged another $84.75 for his visit. So basically, $190 and no fix and I went out and bought a new one. I wouldn't recommend these services.. they will do anything to make a buck.

Some pretty dis-honest practices going on here. I called Appliance Repair Scarborough company to fix my refrigerator and they tell me that their technicians are fully booked. They then used a sub-contractor (FC Universal LTD) to fix the issue. They said they will charge $75 for service call, and if we decide to go ahead with the job, they will waive the charge. So we went ahead and got it fixed and the technician then says that the issue is with the starter and it will cost us $450 for the job. I'm not an electrical engineer so not knowing any better, we got it fixed.

I then sought out for a second opinion and find out that the part that was fixed was no more than $30. The contractor spent less than an hour to fix the problem. When I called the company and asked them for a breakdown of the price, they wouldn't provide me the amount for the part or the labour. They just said that the price is the cost of the fix. I've never heard of a place charging over $300 for less than an hour labour. I know I can't get my money back now but writing this to keep others aware to never use this company for appliance repair.

From what I see, Appliance Repair Scarborough/Ajax are closely tied with this company, so STAY AWAY!

I was pretty worried after I saw FC Universal's rating here (after we made the arrangement with them). However they did a good job. The only potential complaint is the price. We paid $250 for labour ($165 for the part), and the technician spent less than an hour on the issue over two visits combined. I didn't do any research, but I suspect we could've found a better deal if we spent a little time looking.

My first step was to contact someone locally via the Internet whom looked reliable and with good reviews. I googled appliance repair Oak Ridges ON. and up came Appliance Repair Oak Ridges, in my area excellent reviews, service call $75. I was hooked.

The guy opens the freezer door sees the ice build up
, closes the door and says,,, that will cost $250. and if a part needed another $90.

at this point I should have said get lost we talking about a blocked drain,,, I was weak and fell for the sales pitch because my wife simply wanted it fixed at whatever cost,,, a 2 minute job that involved removing back cover of fridge and unplug drain.

The tech trying to justify his time now cleans my fridge and melting the ice block in our sink ,,, LOL

No knowledge of appliances. Showed up in a rusted, unmarked car and told me the breaker wasn't working. Called an electrician to find out the appliance repair man had no idea what he was talking about. There was an issue with the lint trap. Don't use these guys.

we had a repair man look at our washer and immediately tell us to buy a new one because the drum was loose . When we asked him a few more questions about why it didn't drain properly he then actually opened the washer and found d a nail in one of the parts ..closed the washer and it worked like acharm. Charged us $180.00 plus tax and for less than 20 minutes of work. I called tocomplain and was told that was the base charge for labor ..what technician makes 180.00 an hour. They also wouldn't give me the owners name and told me to complain on this site ! .we have learned our lesson the hard way . Be careful...they list on the internet under Appliance Repair so we couldn't check reviews until we received the bill and had their Ltd name ...FC Universal. The technician also talked at length about his new 650,00 home he just bought and that he just saved us from having to buy a new appliance fkr at least a year. The Manager was pathetic and shuffled me off to this website.

Definitely a dishonest operation with exorbitant repair estimates for unnecessary work.

I had FC Universal Ltd. from Oakville come out because of a squeaking dryer. They wanted to replace a part. Afterwards, I simply sprayed on WD – 40 silicone lubricant and the problem was fixed. They try to pressure you into getting the work done on the spot. I had to argue that I didn't want the work done and to only pay the $75 estimate.

I contacted a local appliance repair company called Appliance Repair Ajax. One appointment was cancelled as repair man had an accident (??) The rescheduled appointment was slated for 9-12. No show at noon so I called Appliance Repair. Service person came at 4:30 p.m. Not very knowledgeable. $75 service charge. The actual company that came is FC Universal, not the local person. Had I know this and read their reviews, I would never have dealt with them.

Called for service, Technician called me to tell me he found the problem, charged me $325+tax, then called me back later stating he could not fix the problem, no refund.
