Before moving into our new house, we decided to hire a company to finish the basement after we took possession. We had several negative experiences before with contractors in the past, so we were very nervous about bringing people we didn't know into our new house. Over the next week, we researched several companies using the BBB & Homestars websites. Shortlisting four, we reached out to them to schedule appointments. All of the companies are reputable and had amazing reviews online. Among them was Affordable Basement Renovations.

-> When we met the owner Trent, what set him apart from the other companies was his professionalism & knowledge. He answered every question we had and was very patient and polite. He wasn't pushy about us signing a contract & respected our budget, not trying to upsell us or drive up the price. He was very honest about the price range our basement would cost, & agreed to send us a design and a formal quote. When we received these a couple days later, our decision was made. The design was professionally done and matched exactly what we discussed. His quote was transparent and detailed. As for the price, it was comparable to the other contractors we met & was within our budget. Based on reviews we read, our meeting with Trent, & the design & quote, we didn't hesitate to sign a contract with Affordable Basement Renovations.

The most exciting part was seeing the customized options we made come together. The great part about Affordable Basement Renovations is that they work with another company that supplies the flooring & paint. We went in to pick our choices, and there are a LOT of options to choose from. While we decided to upgrade a couple things, there are a LOT of choices for you without having to pay extra - we were shocked at how many options. Seeing everything we chose being installed in our basement was amazing. From the tile in the bathroom to the vinyl plank to the paint to the barn doors for the office that Trent suggested, everything was done quickly and with quality by Trent's team, with no hidden costs.

Trent & His Crews
-> Over the course of the basement development, we met several members of Trent's team. There was a different crew member in our house almost every day, & every single one was friendly and professional, & worked HARD. The crews were friendly but not intrusive, just coming &doing their work, talking to us only when needed, & cleaning up at the end of each day. Trent would come to the house from time to time to check on things, & would let us know what the next steps were, who would be coming, and if anything would be needed from us.

> Frank is one of the best framers in Calgary. Frank & Trent showed up bright and early on the start date specified on the contract, and began framing the basement. At the end of the day, Trent brought us downstairs to show us the work. We couldn't believe how much was done in just one day.
> Sid the electrician was fantastic & very meticulous! He made sure that every aspect of the electrical work was carefully thought out and planned.
> Brent & Grant, the drywallers & plumbers, are experts in their own fields. They are perfectionists.
> Gilles – Did a great job preparing the job! He wrapped blankets around our bannister so it wouldn't get dirty or damaged, & made sure the floor and stairs leading to the basement were covered to prevent excessive dirt.

Timeline
-> The basement was finished not just on time, but three weeks ahead of schedule.
When Trent came to our house to collect our final payment, he didn't just grab it and run, he took the time to make sure we were happy with everything . It was quite obvious that Trent and his crew care about their work and their customers. Hiring Affordable Basement Renovations was the best decision we made, and we're so happy we did it. Now we have a beautiful basement that is our favorite place in our new house.

Trent is an extremely professional contractor and your first line of contact. We made an appointment and he came over to measure our entire basement and used that to draw out a plan to your liking. We added a steam shower so the cost was more and so was the time involved. His turnaround time is usually about 5 weeks give or take depending on parts and other factors. Our basement took about 10 weeks total. Trent does the framework himself and he does really good work. With each part of the project he will let you know ahead of time who to expect on any given day. The biggest project was the steam shower which took a good 3 weeks to tile. The tiler he assigned was very meticulous in every part of the installation. We ran into issues with the glass shower door at the end of the project but we were given the choice to have it fixed or to have the total docked off the cost. We choose the former and it was fixed in a timely matter. ABR is a great company and Trent only deals with the best contractors for each project from tiling to custom cabinets to plumbing and finishing. He is always available to answer questions and guarantees the work even after everything is done. All the costs are broken down line by line down to each part used. Great company to deal with!

We hired Trent to take care of extensive renovations to our home.
We added a bedroom upstairs, all new doors inside, trim, paint,
carpet, and they gutted and renovated 2 bathrooms upstairs.
New windows throughout the entire house, a new front door, a new railing for the stairs, tiled the front landing.
Downstairs they gutted the entire basement, rebuilt it with new electrical panel and wiring (whole house), plumbing, HVAC, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, an office, a media room with a wet bar, carpet, paint, trim, doors, sound dampening insulation throughout, laundry room.
Huge job, did not phase them one bit, they were able to complete the job 4 weeks ahead of the quoted completion date!
Totally professionally handled, well organized, courteous, Trent uses tradesmen who only do their trade.
Electricians did the electrical plumbers did the plumbing etc. etc. He even brought in a guy who just does tile. This use of tradesmen really shows in the finished product.
We love our home and have absolutely no complaint about Affordable Basement Renovations Ltd.
We highly recommend using this company for any size renovation.

We needed our basement finished as soon as possible after a quick move and not enough space for our family. Trent and crew not only did it earlier than promised but he did it well and on budget.
