Overview:
My girlfriend bought a coupon for $48 from WagJag to clean the ducts. The deal specified that 10 "ducts" were included. This really means 10 registers (your house likely has more (include return grilles) so add $8 for each additional if you want those cleaned. It takes them about 20 seconds to clean each one.
If your furnace has more than one main duct branch (and most houses do), they will ask you for an addtional $30/main branch to hook up the vacuum to it. Note: Almost every house has more than one main branch - look at the ducts near your furnace.
I'm a mechanical engineer (P.Eng.) and my girlfriend asked me to 'supervise' the work because she was not familiar with the process.
Pros:
- On time, friendly service, good equipment.
- Bonded and insured.
Cons:
- The deal did not specify that it would cost an additional $30 per main duct.
- They asked that she pay cash and that it would be extra for using a credit card. (I wouldn't recommend paying cash).
Other notes: Dryer vent cleaning, and evaporator (cooling coil) cleaning is not included.
I would recommend doing a walk through of your house and getting a written quote before proceeding with the work.
