Diagnosis and repair of a Samsung Flex Duo oven
Worst experience ever!
Called them for a jammed door lock on the oven after its first-ever self-clean cycle.
1st technician (Avi) didn't know what he was doing, and caused a problem oven while repairing it - jamming the oven divider pressure switch into the back of our unit as he reassembled it (see photo of switch jammed into back housing so it doesn't pop through as it should), and bumbled his way through the diagnosis - he even calling Samsung to help him figure it out - which I guess is better than when he incorrectly told us that the oven divider switch was the temperature sensor....
Later that day, I tried to use the oven as divided units and it wouldn't work. So a 2nd technician came to fix the absent pressure switch that 1st technician had jammed into the back of the unit, and told us the switch was missing a plastic part that protrudes into the oven cavity - think about this - plastic in the oven cavity..... it would melt! We asked him 3 times to clarify his statement about a plastic cap in the oven, and he kept insisting that this was correct, and when we pointed out that the plastic would melt in a hot oven, he didn't know what to say. We asked to see his qualifications and he said he didn't have any - then verbally stumbled and recanted, and said he didn't carry them with him... Eventually, he did free the jammed switch, and we asked him to leave before completing any other work.
Third technician (Peter) was great and knew what he was doing, but when I called to make the appointment for the third tech., to install the ordered part, I told them not to send anyone who didn't know their way around a stove, so we had to wait an extra day to get someone - doesn't instill confidence. Shouldn't everyone working for an appliance repair company know their way around fixing a stove???
Peter, however, was smart, polite and knew what he was doing. He replaced the damaged door lock part, and was done work quickly.
The company has a slick front end appointment and payment system, but most of their techs. 2/3 were incompetent. Given how much they charge for service, I would expect at least a basic level of competency which wasn't there in two of the techs. they supplied.
We're not asking for rocket scientists, but at least people who know about ovens and basic repairs for an issue that I found on Google in less than two minutes that is the most common problem after a self-clean cycle - a jammed door lock!
Peter (3rd tech.)was great and their only saving grace. Price was high especially given the level of competency. I'd never use them again!

- $383.00
