Nielsen Design - No Longer in Business

Starting with a few existing pieces in the Master bedroom, Jody very quickly grasped what was needed.
She selected the perfect lamps, area carpet, mouldings, drapery, and paint colour to pull it all together.
Again working with existing pieces, Jody updated the living/dining room by reupholstering furniture, selecting end tables, carpet, paint and picked the perfect chandelier.
Jody is always professional, cheerful and hardworking.

We have been working with Jody for approximately the last 5 years. During this time Jody has worked with us in designing custom furniture, picking beautiful fabrics and paint colours that match our taste in design.
We have referred Jody to friends and family and look forward to work with her to finish off the rest of our home.

I purchased a house requiring a kitchen renovation (including wall removal), basement refinishing, electrical rewiring and painting throughout. I had limited time to deal with finishes and be on site. Jody not only provided all of the drawings for the major changes, but proposed the finishes, fixtures and paint throughout. The final product looks fantastic, and I was able to minimize the time I spent on it (being busy working and moving) by Jody coordinating with the contractor, acting as project manager, and giving a good range of choices for fixtures and finishes. While the final result felt close to seamless, it was only as result of Jody and the contractor's cooperation, commitment and intelligent decision making.

Jody (under Jody Nielsen Design) was responsible for two major projects at our place on Lake Rosseau. While my wife and I live in Vancouver I needed someone in Ontario to do the project design and coordinate with my contractor . Having been in the commercial development field for 20 plus years I have to say that without Jody the two projects would not come close to the final result that our family and guests continue to be astonished at and also to my own high standards that I expect. One moment out of many always comes to mind when Jody was first introduced to my Architect and the contractor and she was suggesting some changes to the structural drawings that would result in a architecturally more appealing look. I could clearly see both the contractor and the Architect roll their eyes. Jody proceeded to take the architects clip board and started to draw in perfect perspective her ideas. Their mouths dropped when she turned the clip board to them to display( probably to scale) her suggested change and I said... Oh I forgot to tell you two that Jody is also a graduate of Architecture!! We all had a good laugh. I am sure Jody can give you pictures of the final result which has been featured in a number of magazines and on various web sites. I have a third project coming on the horizon and Jody will hopefully be available .

I called in Jody to advise me on updating my living room. I had never worked with a decorator and I was pleased with her professional, respectful approach with an eye for good quality and design. Jody understood what I wanted and gave me excellent ideas which respected my style while introducing new, creative ideas that would revitalize the space. She listened and consulted with me to help me achieve a look that is beautiful and reflects my personality. I also asked Jody to help me with the entry and other areas and continue to rely on her to help me with other projects in my home.

After experiencing Jody's serene design aesthetic at a family cottage in Muskoka and my brother's home in Kilbride, I knew I had to have Nielsen Design for my own home. Jody is patient and calm and brought a wealth of experience to my project, magically transforming my family heirlooms into contemporary classics that mixed beautifully with her modern designs. I wanted family friendly design that still looked elegant and Jody helped me achieve it. We look forward to working with Jody on our next project.
