Moved from Burnaby B.C. to Orleans Ont.

I moved from B.C. to Ontario and the help I got from Blue Star was great. Elizabeth is one of the best people I have ever dealt with and is most dependable and honest. I would recommend this company in the future to anybody that is moving, again Elizabeth was incredible and all times, pick-up and delivery were spot on. Thank you Blue Star and thank you Elizabeth.
My very best

Cross-country move

Ryan quoted me for a price of 1,000lbs, assuming that a 1br apartment is anywhere between 1,000 and 2,00lbs. Somehow my shipment was over 3000lbs, but they did not provide me with a scale receipt to back it up. In addition it would cost $300 to scale the items - IF THEY WERE RIGHT. If they're wrong then I get the $300 back as well as the price difference.

They also charged me $120 but I can't make out the reason why, since the invoice they provided me with has part of the invoice covered up by my credit card receipt.

On top of all that, they added 3% on top of my bill because I paid with credit card. I contacted Visa who assured me that this is against their merchant agreement and provided me with information on how to file a dispute.

I would never use Blue Star Van Lines for anything, not even delivering a blank piece of paper from one room to another.

Moving

Booked to a move from Saskatoon to Toronto with this company ($200) deposit. A few days before scheduled pick up, I called them (!) to confirm and they stated that they could no longer do the delivery. Only thing they offered was to refund my deposit. Thanks for absolutely no help in a very stressful time!

Service

I have been dealing with Steve, the manager, but he won't return my calls and whenever I call he is "busy" and I'll leave a message. The first time he actually picked up and hung up on me. The story behind all of it goes like this:

We booked the company about a month before we actually left Ontario, we put or deposit down ($200) and gave a pick up date of July 20th. We didn't have a delivery date at the time. We got our confirmation and were told that our stuff would be in Calgary by the 1st and would be held till we were in a place where we could then get delivery. Once we got to Red Deer, June 25th and found our apartment a few weeks later, we called about getting a change of pick up to have our stuff to us sooner then Aug 1st. This was not an issue, and they thought it was best considering we had already found an apartment and they wanted to make sure we had our stuff. So they said it could be there by the 20th-25th at the latest. We then moved into our apartment early, paying EXTRA to be early and to get our stuff.

When we called to confirm the time of pick up on the 13th, they said they were no longer shipping out that week, and WE missed the ship out date so our stuff would have to wait till the original set up date of the 20th. We then were okay with us, not pleased but, okay. We arranged for everything to be that day, and to see our stuff by AUG 1ST at the latest, as they said our stuff would be shipped out on the 25th of July. They called to confirm the time of pick uo on the 19th and told us 9-11 for the 20th and that was great, and we told Jasons parents, then we get a call about 4-5 hours later saying "Ugh we told you the wrong time, were coming at like 5-ish" And I said no absolutely not, and the guy said "Fine and hung up". (He was from dispatch and I never got his name).

Our stuff was picked uo fine and we booked out weekend off to have our stuff delivered, and called to confirm on the 25th that we could get our stuff delivered on Aug 3rd after 3pm, they could do that time, but the day was not a problem. We then get (what we think is) our pick up time call on the Aug 2nd, for them to tell us that it will be arriving in Calgary within the next 6-7 days. And of course I was cheesed, and they said they never said any date, and that they don't think anyone would have told me otherwise. I ask to speak to a manager, and I get hung up on by him, then I leave what was my first message to him. I then call to speak to the girl I had been dealing with for her to tell me my stuff DIDN'T leave till the 31st and that's why its so behind. I asked for a discount or money back and she said she would waive the credit card fee, which we never were even told about in the first place.

I finally get her to speak to someone, and she said she would call me Tuesday once the stuff was in Calgary with a NEW contract. And I got a specific delivery date of Wednesday or Thursdays at the absolute latest. Of course, I don't hear from her, and when I call both her and her boss are out of office. I leave a second message on Steves answer machine. I then ask David (The guy I'm speaking to) when our stuff will arrive and he tells me that nothing can be done because they have more important things to deliver and they are too busy on Thursday to do it. I then ask him to leave Elizabeth a message for me that I need her to call me Wednesday. And of course... She doesn't call. So Thursday, I call back and conveniently she is busy at a conference call and can't take messages, but the guy I'm talking to said he'd pass along the message, and I ask to leave ANOTHER message for Steve, which I did.

Elizabeth then emails me, because she is too busy to call me, and then when I email back and state that I am in shock and disappointed they can't return calls etc, and that I want to know what I will be getting back/having taken off the contract, she doesn't reply.

So today I called to the Calgary office of the van-line that will be delivering and they admit to me that the stuff never even left Ontario till Aug 7th and that it wouldn't be till Tuesday that we may see our stuff. I even made a point to ask if they were doing ANY deliveries on Thursday and she said it's impossible since or stuff hasn't even entered their hands, and won't till Monday so of course... Blue Line was not truthfull ... yet again.

At this point, I am so beyond upset and angry, and I call Blue Line and speak to a lady named Kelsey who was beyond rude and ignorant. I asked for a email stating every date that has passed including pick-up and start of route date and when it got to Calgary etc. She refused to give me such a thing and said she couldn't but she could tell me the dates, and she does, and I call her out on the Aug 2nd departure and she states NO ONE told me it left Aug 31st and that I am not telling the truth and I have no proof of anything because it is their word against mine. She then asked what kind of compensation I am expecting so she can pass it along to Steve, and at which point I told her free and she laughed in my face and said "I'm ending the conversation because you are dumb to think you can get your stuff for free, over this." I told her she was rude, and that I would like her to do everything in her power to have Steve call me as soon as he can, and she said "He's my boss, and I can't tell him what to do".

At which point I realized they don't care, and I will need to do something better to get this settled, and I don't need to pay full or anything, I'm not being screwed over anymore

Flawless service

My mother has moved with Blue Star 2 times now within a year, and she was always very satisfied with the services the company has always guaranteed to perform. When it was time for me to move from Vancouver to Toronto, I decided to pick Blue Star. I hit off a great start by having the welcoming, and warm energy throughout my first phone call, and had an evenly friendly service during the moving process. The customer service approach was very warm, kind, and cooperative. Definitely will be coming back for their services for my next move!

Affordable, and great service!

This was my second move with Blue Star Vanlines, and like the first my experienced, I couldn’t be any gladder to have made that choice. Remaining content from my first move with Blue Star Vanlines. I knew without a question to choose this company for the next. The friendly service and hard working atmosphere shined again for my second move. Hearing many double dealing stories from my friends’ experiences with other moving companies, I knew I was in trustworthy hands. Beware who to trust with your move, my best advice is take my word and go with Blue Star Vanlines. Of course I can’t guarantee you that your move will be flawless, but I can say you will have a honest, and dependable move. To sum up this company within 3 words, all I can say is; trustworthy, friendly, and hardworking. Thank you Ryan for all the hard work, and effort to make my move as comfortable as possible.

Move From Toronto to Fort McMurray

Moving companies sometimes dont have a great reputation but Blue Star I would recommend to anyone. After careful research of several companies they all promised the world but when it came to picking up and a delivery day - they all fell through. Blue star quoted, lived up to their quote, picked up on the exact date. had good customer service at office, and delivered to Fort McMurray a piano on time and in excellent shape. Thanks and I would highly recommend. Their price was competitive and service outstanding. I thank Ryan O for looking after us and keeping us informed.

Moving a few items from Ottawa to Calgary

We have been totally disenchanted with the service or lack of service for a minor relocation of a few items from Ottawa to Calgary. The movers were supposed to arrive at my parents' home on July 3rd between 6 and 8 pm and instead arrived very late and ultimately were unable to awaken my elderly parents. We have tried to set up another time and were told that they would contact us or my parents on Friday,July 5th. This time has come and gone and no one was contacted. My husband called several times today, Saturday, July 6th, and again nothing has been resolved...we simply get the run-around. I had been sitting at my Calgary home patiently awaiting a return call but this is obviously not going to happen. My parents are moving on Monday and this situation has added more stress to their lives at this point. I'd like these individuals to be honest and indicate whether or not they can accommodate our needs. We have moved households as well as a several items in the past with reputable movers and have never had this sort of shoddy treatment. It is amazing that certain companies remain in business when they treat their customers with such disrespect.
