I have dreamt of owning a pool for over 21 years, since moving to Canada, and this past summer it became a reality.

You see, I simply called Rob and that was THE best decision I have ever made (aside from marrying my honey of course). Rob, right from the start is honest and open; he asks probing questions to ensure you are educated and that his type of pool and installation is right for you, and then, by the end of that night I had a quote in my hand... A fair and reasonable quote at that. But most importantly, I trusted him, and my trust was very well placed.

Rob, we honestly cannot articulate how happy we are with the entire experience, you and your team are superb, the speed at which you drive that little BobCat is well, simply astounding....and the finished product = a quality pool.

The pool installation was also a top ‘secret mission’, and it was sooo difficult not sharing with my FB friends and family.. but it was worth it… My family arrived from the UK a week post installation, and my Mother was just THRILLED.... You helped make her holiday a very special one.... :) of course now she is threatening to come over year…. Hmmm 

Rob and his crew installed our pool this past October 2016 and it was such a great experience from start to finish . Rob was so informative and terrific to deal with right from the first time we met to when the installation was complete. He had so many cost saving tips and great advice and was always available to answer our many questions. Rob was onsite to oversee all work and they were in and out in 3 days. We had a swimming pool installed in September of 2016 and we are now very pleased to write a review for Rob Moffat and his associates at Smart Pools On-ground Swimming Pools.

From the preliminary discussions with Rob, he inspired trust and confidence. From the moment he began the project and right through the conclusion of the finished installation, he was enthusiastic, inspirational and professional. His subsequent training and instruction on the operational details of the equipment and the general use of the pool was clear and concise.

We were very impressed with Rob's professional demeanour and approach to his work. He provided us with a clear and well-written quote and a project plan that explained not only the work he would do but the care and consideration that he would bring to the job. He also suggested some excellent design ideas and alternatives that improved our overall project. In the end, he did excellent work for us and delivered as promised.

Rob has a number of business associates with whom he works who bring additional services to his projects. Everyone from the electrician and fencing installers to the gas fitter and deck company (Derek Pallister of DAT Construction) were equally enjoyable to work with and completed their work with a high degree of professionalism and expertise, which I’m sure Rob expects given the professional manner in which he handles his own company.

In all facets of the project we had the utmost confidence that we were getting terrific value for our money and we were confident that we engaged a company whose owner took an honest and dedicated approach to doing a quality job.

Since I consulted the homestar reviews for Smart Pools prior to making a purchase I decided to write a review of this company. When we told others we were putting in a pool we heard many horror stories so we didn't take this decision lightly (in fact it took a couple years from the time we first met with Rob until our actual install). Along the way Rob provided us with several examples of satisfied customers that we met with in person before making our ultimate decision.

We installed the pool in May of 2016 and enjoyed a full swimming season this year. We have yet to finish around the pool as we are planning concrete and Rob advised that an onground pool should undergo a full year before installing a permanent surround.

We got lots of advice along the way to make our project better. Rob was always helpful, patient, and promptly returned calls even well after the install. He even came back months later to make a minor repair to insure we were completely satisfied with our decision to go with his company. I would highly recommend Rob and his company

My wife Gwendolyn and I called Rob on a cold winters night in early January. We left him a voicemail. Within 10 minutes he called us back and we talked for close to an hour. Rob was a true gentleman. He answered all of our questions. He came to our house a week later and spent 2.5 hours with us on a Sunday morning helping us with our project. He was able to answer every question we had and came up with many suggestions in regards to where the pool would be best situated. Gwendolyn and I were sold on Rob and new we didn't want to work with anyone else. He knows his stuff when it comes to pools!!! He promised us a late May 2016 installation date. Our whole family was excited. Rob quoted us a price on the pool and he did not exceed that quote.

Throughout the next several months Rob kept in touch with us and the other contractors we secured to finish off the backyard. The pool was installed three weeks early. From the moment Rob and Trevor started the pool to the time when they removed all their equipment they were truly professional. Everything went like clockwork! After the pool was finished and they left Robert continued to check in with us to ensure we were happy. We used the steel plates and they saved our side yard! The pool they installed has been flawless and was enjoyed all summer by our family and friends.

We hired Rob and Vicki, Trevor and crew for our pool installation end of July 2016. They were on time, quick and cleaned up their mess. They were a pleasure to deal with! Our only constructive criticism is the "pool school" was alot to take in at one time. We enjoyed our pool all of Aug. and Sept. And can hardly wait to get in it again next year!

We had a wonderful experience with Rob and the team at Smart Pools. We had collected a number of quotes a few years ago and after some time debating the type of pool we wanted and the price we were willing to spend we decided to contact Rob. He still had our quote on hand after all those years. He and the team answered all our questions, were very respectful and punctual. He was wonderful with our neighbours too! The team treated our property with great respect and the trades they recommended to help with fence removal and installation were just as helpful and prompt. We enjoyed our pool and look forward to finishing it off this summer once it settles and we can complete the hardscape

Rob and team do four things really well:
They show up when they say they will
They do what they promise
If there is a problem they deal with it.
The keep you in the loop on everything going on.
When he says your pool will be in in 3 days, believe it, barring rain.
Trevor and his helper unloaded the parts for the pool in the pouring rain. They came at 7 PM to install the liner when the supplier was a little late.
Rob and team are about the putting the pool in , and they are super efficient at it, for an excellent price. The quality is there, too, using all Hayward products for pumps, filters, etc, that in my experience are very reliable and solid.
Rob will also work with you if you are after a specific price point, for instance suggesting we build a cover for the step rather than buying one, a several hundred dollar savings and he provided a plan and pictures! He was very straight up on what the pool was, and was not, and what we would get for our dollar. He also had great suggestions and technical advice for the things we handled.
If you are a bit of a do-it-your-selfer and want to coordinate the work yourself, working with Rob is great. You either do the things that he does not do (and he is clear on where the line is) or you can call one of the contractors he can recommend (and it will be several for each service, gas, electrical, etc) and he will tell you what they can and cannot do.
We had one issue with the pool, and that was that the winter cover supplier put the wrong cover in the box. We were struggling to put in on, and so I sent a picture to Rob asking what was up. He instantly responded that it was the wrong cover and he would get right back to me with options. Within a few days he had discussed with the supplier, and we had a proper cover a week later, plus Rob told the supplier we were keeping the incorrect cover because we already had it on the pool and he did not feel we should have to do extra work due to the supplier's mistake.
For us SmartPools was the perfect choice.
